Will they throw him into the fire against the Caps

I really dont know who you would sit right now. Nylander got his wakeup call, was pretty pesky yesterday, no breakaway goal. Do we really play Dach on the fourth line? Put him with Toews and Shaw, let Kane get back to Strome and Cat?

As much as I want him playing center, I dont think he has a spot at center here with Kampf taking a huge step.

It seems Kampf is really pushing to keep his spot. Good to have some competition.

That would be a great idea, see what the future holds with Dach, one game is a small sample size by far but it will be interesting to see what he would bring to a team that is getting utterly dominated right now in all facets of play.

You can sit anybody, the team is getting dominated, yes they are 2-2-1 but they look like crap doing so. The team has a ton of work to do, so sitting someone for Dach would be a simple thing to do. There certainly hasn’t been anyone in the bottom six who has played exceptionally well since the first game.

Picking up what you're laying down, but maybe wing for him on top 3 with a glimpse at top 2. **** it. Just hope everybody doesn't write him off if he isn't dominant immediately

IMO, the best places to try him are with Toews, his idol.

As the muscle for Cat-Strome.

Or at center with Carp, Shaw, or Smith to take faceoffs on his wings.

My concern is the opposite: he shows some flashes, and management keeps him up past his nine in some quixotic dream of a serious Cup run this year.

Nylander has the skill set but lacks the heart and desire, there are so many hockey players just like him. He was given the chance of a lifetime to play alongside 2 future hall of famers and did not cut it besides that one goal he scored in the opener versus Philly. He may get one more chance, but I am sure he will hit waivers very soon.
Really I get that you may not like the kid but to put Nylander on waivers is not an option you might as well have just given the Joker away. There is no way Nylander would ever clear waivers. Besides Nylander is Stan's to live or die by and Coliton doesn't put players in the minors that's still got to clear the FO I believe.

pretty sad state. I am not sure Dach knew what position he was playing out there. Even Brooksy said its gotta be good with Kane and Strome on your wings.
Even when they interviewed Dachs father during the break, he seemed like its inevitable he is going to get sent back.

I'm okay with that. Dach looks to be a very good player and it might be best for him to be down in Saskatoon and somewhat sheltered to the fallout in front of him if the clusterfuckery on the ice continues this season.

I guess I was just more surprised it was Zach Smith that sat for him and not Nylander.

The biggest problem is just waiting for an injury, which is bound to happen. I dont know if Zach would get a line and Carpenter get a line or if they would go to rockford if Dach is off limits. Saarela and Kurashev are both options, just would hate to have to see a trade if someone is out long term.

I'm not.

Stan traded a defensive prospect in Joker for Nylander, a scoring prospect who, as reports would have it, has talent up the wazoo but has drive issues. He essentially traded from weakness to acquire strength, which is completely bass-ackwards. Even if Joker was in the doghouse, wasn't going anywhere, or an expansion risk Stan could have always kicked the can down the road for another defensive prospect (read: defensively responsible--not just D-men).

Stan's in the hot seat and by all rights he should be. The team has been in a down-skid since 2016 and has been hot garbage from March 2017. Since then up until Q's firing Stan has done nothing to help the club. After Q's firing it looks like Stan is making a concerted effort to get the 'hawks out of the cellar and get the team to WIN NOW--and the signings this summer outside of Nylander allude to this (i.e. DeHaan/Maata as opposed to letting the rookies break into the league).

If they give up on Nylander early it's going to make Stan look bad--especially with Joker looking decent in Buffalo. Nylander is going to get every chance to succeed because Stan will look like an idiot if he gives up on him too early irrespective of anything else. However, if Nylander does put 2 and 2 together and comes up with a number less than 23 Stan looks like a genius to the great unwashed. Thus the only net gain for Stan is to play Nylander on the off chance he does put it all together, and that's his gambit.

Right now though we have 14 FWDs on the roster, 7D-men, and 2G. I don't think an injury is going to hurt the team too much--and not so much that we'd need a trade. Plus, if we get a goalie injury there's the LTIR grace so it would be easy to pull up Delia or Lankinen.
