It's not a terrible deal, and you have to take into consideration that Bickell stayed with the Hawks for peanuts. He's been at league minimum the last few seasons, so, really, I'm OK with this. The Hawks can afford to pay him a little extra, considering his salary really helped them out after the cup purge. He has some work to do to live up to this contract, though. If he plays with Toews/Kane, he should easily be a 50 point guy. I'm OK with it, as the Hawks really need someone with his attributes in the top six.

My favorite teams
 1. Portland Timbers
 1. Chicago Blackhawks
Glad we resigned him. might be a little on the expensive side but based on his playoff performance I'd rather have him on our squad rather than not.

Decent deal, as long as he doesn't revert to previous years' lack of hard-nosed hockey.

he only has played 2 full seasons and 1 lock out shortened season with the Hawks. Durring that period he wasn't going to step in and be the player that emerged in the playoffs that we saw. Hes still going to have consistency issues. Hes young still and young to the league. But hes all ups and that playoffs he had is going to play huge into his confidence and ego which you need a little of. His path of development is going the speed it should be going. A little of this contract has some to do with future potential still. Its a gamble at the money but its a good gamble.

If he stays on the first line, he's capable of 50-60 points. I guess it will be interesting to see where the Blackhawks are interested in slotting Saad. Perhaps with the trade of Bolland they may experiment with bringing Pirri to the big club.

It's a big body that proved well with playing with #19. If you plug in the playoff #s into an 82-game season, it's just over 60 points.

Seriously, Kane, Toews, Bickell. DO it and stick with it Q.

That's exactly it, and I think Stan made this signing under the assumption that he is the wingman for Toews and Kane. He is certainly not expecting Bickell to play third line minutes. Bickell at 4 mil pretty much guarantees he sees top six minutes most of the season. And hopefully PP time....

I hate to see Frolik go because he was so effective with Kruger but this is a good deal for the Hawks and Bickell both. He could have picked up another half milllion per in free agency but this works out well for everyone. Staying here he has to know he probably hasn't hoisted his last cup yet.

I'm guessing that other teams presented Bryan with contract offers that surpassed the 16 mil/4 year deal he received.

But he wants to stay here where he is comfortable and doesn't have to pick up and leave and start over. So he and Hawks reach compromise.

I wish we could have done this deal with Brouwer previously.

Yep holy over payment batman. The guy had one good playoffs where he disappeared in the finals and we throw the money at him. He aint worth 4 mil and probably will never be worth 4 mil. Hope I'm wrong, really hope I'm wrong but I dont see it happening

Wow.....dude had no knee left to play on. And did you miss his hits on Bergeron that probably put the finishing blow on him for the series, and cool that you forgot his goal to tie it with a minute left.

You think the guy in your avatar disappeared as well?

It's not a terrible deal for him. Time will tell if it will be for the Hawks. This was probably his one real chance to cash in and he did it. Good for him.

Yep, 4 million for Bickell.

I'm okay with this. 3.5 seemed right, but with the cap going back up after this next season, we should be alright.

Bickell just needs to be consistent enough to make this contract worth it.

For a change we totally agree. Even number wise. I said 3.5 was high end but heard at the UC a couple of weeks ago Detroit and Vancouver had thrown out 5.

Consistency and the fact they know he meshes with 19 & 88 now is huge.

dont forget the space he opened up for toews and kane when that line was put back. I think Supra might want to retract the statement that he "disappeared".

Two teams specifically were well over that number. Detroit and Vancouver. But as I said in the other thread he lives here, is getting married here in August, and wants to continue to play here. So if he took a 4 mil discount over four years to stay, I'd say that's a pretty big discount.

Anyone saying it's not remind me when you gave 4 million $$ away.
