Different type player though. He's improved every year IMO. Bolland's injuries hampered him every year as well.

For a change we totally agree. Even number wise. I said 3.5 was high end but heard at the UC a couple of weeks ago Detroit and Vancouver had thrown out 5.

Consistency and the fact they know he meshes with 19 & 88 now is huge.

If this is true and 5 was being thrown out there it makes total sense where the 4 mil per came from.

Hawks probably offered 3 and they met in the middle.

I would have loved to see the Canucks pay 5 and gag themselves in salary cap hell.

My statement was based on salary dumping to sign other players to fit under whatever the cap becomes.

I've been a Bickell fan since his days in Rockford (Brouwer too as some recall) and happy he cashed in.

With 9.5 mil left I don't think that was totally the case. I think they planned on resigning him either way. He took a discount to stay here the last two years as well.

It's a big body that proved well with playing with #19. If you plug in the playoff #s into an 82-game season, it's just over 60 points.

If he doesn't become invisible for 20 game stretches and demoted to the third or fourth line

which he has a hell of a habit of.

4mil is good for 20g and 200 hits

Who else on the hawks have his size, ability?

He can play on any of the top 3 lines. Hawks have some nice LW depth now in Sharp, Saad and Bickell

I'm not sold on Pirri taking the second line. I haven't seen much of him other than the games as a hawk, but a few things I heard was 1-he didn't do too much early in the season when a lot if nhlers were playing in the AHL...and got most of his point after the lockout ended. And 2-I heard he's not the strongest with the puck - where going up against NHL defencemen/tight checking NHL forwards is going to give him some issues

I'd be open with going in with Pirri and Leblanc battling for that second line center...and save some $$ if needed to add someone at the TDL

Not sure how much Ice Hog games you watched with Pirri this year but he was off chart as their top line Center. I the gripe I heard from those at the Hawks was he wasn't a team player. But man the amount of assists he had? That screams team player.

only a few players lead the AHL in points and don't have a shot. There are those so I'll give that out there. But he's earned his shot. No question. You could be right and he fails.

I'm going to guess right off the bad his skills are far beyond Lablanc at this point. Not to say Lablanc won't catch up at some point.

I haven't seen any...so really I'm not pro/against him really

I guess the real question is would Hoss want him as his center. That's really the approval he needs

I was a huge Pirri fan the year we drafted him, our team has gone a direction where I feel we would be better suited with a different type of 2nd line center. A guy like Handzus for example, rock solid, methodical, good faceoff, Pirri's skill is all there he will just need to simplify his game when playing with the likes of Hossa and Sharp.

That said, there will be a ton of 1st year mistakes, but he has been groomed in Rockford and is walking into the absolute best situation possible in the NHL.

If we sign him, the Hawks first two lines (1 & 1A) will be killer.

2 years 4.5 million, we can afford it. Sell him the situation, then let him walk when Kane and Toews are slated to be signed, preferably after a epcot 3 year Cup run.

Are we talking about Bickell? Or someone else?

He's never scored 20 goals, or recorded 200 hits. Even his numbers prorated this season (15 goals, 184 hits) don't touch those numbers. His 2013 playoff numbers are another story (32 goals, 303 hits prorated).

I'm not entirely sold on this deal, but I'm not upset either. So far, Bickell has proven that he is a streaky 15 goal, 150-175 hit guy. He got hot in the playoffs, no doubt. Also shown that when he wants to play, he can fit in on the top line. The question is, will he bring it every night? If he does, 20-25 goals is not out of the question, nor is 200 hits. But again, it hasn't happened yet. So it's a paycheck on potential.

I'm hoping it atleast falls somewhere in the middle of regular season Bickell and playoff Bickell, like you suggest - 20 goals, 200 hits.

I have him as our Tomas Holmstrom, his impact is well beyond the numbers he will produce.

He's capable of both

Had 17 as a rookie..just potted 9 in 23gms with 85 hits

Was in pace for 190 hits this year

So yeah, I don't think 20g/200 hits is a reach getting into his 4th year

We sure as **** do... I posted that in multiple threads as soon as the Bolts bought him out.

He'd be amazing in the Indianhead. But he'll go to Toronto or Montreal.

He's old and would think he'd take a little break to sign with a real Cup contender.

Oh wait... we got Handzus for the 2C position.... but he played RW most of the time ONLY TAKING FACEOFFS. Learn to back check you old ****.
