Just started the new Scumbag Shannaban meme, feel free to contribute. This is my first one which basically sums up this entire past season, especially this post-season.

the "experts" think he will be suspended indef (out of the playoffs). Won't stop this sort of garbage from happening again...that's the worst part.

This suspension and fine stuff isn't working. It's making the league a bigger joke. Im tired of hearing about suspensions and fines and Im closely getting tired of these playoffs already. Im not devoting the time I wanted to towards them anymore. I wanted these playoffs to be about the good stuff...goals, saves, clean hits, passes, and the sorts. The air waves are all about head shots, cross checks and suspensions and fines.

Im happy Hossa is walking. I really am. It was all I could think of during the game. Hockey was a secondary thought. It's amazing Hossa or any other player hit like that ever gets up at all. It's just a matter of time before someone doesn't at this "pro" level...it will happen and when it does I am done as a fan.

I don't know what the answers are anymore. Lose the instigator? Get these damn armour pads off these guys shoulders (it used to hurt players to throw "hits" like the one Torres threw tonight). I just don't know if there even are answers unless you weed these a-typical asshole players out of the league all together. Maybe coaches and GM's not towing the company line would help? Just once I would like a coach or a GM to step up and say "yah our player threw an illegal hit and we are upset and disgusted and wont allow it on our team". One can dream but I honestly think that's one of the only way this shit stops. No more aiding and abetting these guys and these plays. Someone grab some common sense and pride for **** sakes and do the right thing.

Nice work NHL. You have done a great job at making things worse year after year...just grab a pair and admit you are failing.

There a multiple answers but the obvious one for all of these playoff games is to get refs that have the balls to take control of a game and series before it explodes. They call enough subjective shit, that they could have called Torres for interference or something and then throw the major since the guy was hurt...that is indeed in the rule book to be able to do. But regardless of the Hossa incident, the refs just have been pussies with this shit and it only gets worse. **** in most series I don't even see them talking to the players to cool it. Just skate to their half moon as if they are boss of the ice, you ******* are not entitled and cannot just brush it or players off.

Not sure the instigator would have made a lick of a difference in most of these series since the types of players have changed. But you also cannot throw the book at someone like Bollig for light immediate retaliation (Torres turtled and Bollig could not do much anyway AND was jumped by others).

Longer suspensions. Assham should have gotten at least 5 (I would give 10), for the cross check to the head area (neck). That is the shit that should not be there and the longer suspension will widdle those players and plays out over time.

The fucked up part TCD it was NOT JUST THAT HIT! This game was BRUTAL! Slew foot! Tripping! Holding! Roughing! NONE OF IT WAS FUCKING CALLED!

Explain it to me? Because the NHL owns the Coyotes and throws MILLIONS at it? IT's their fucking team!

I'm so fucking pissed right now had the ASSHOLES at the UNITED CENTER not kicked us out of the Kettle One I'd have popped through the glass to **** that POS up!

Back up a minute.....they kicked you out of the KO?

And speaking of bad officiating. What was with that shit about calling a misconduct on Hammer for inadvertantly hiting Doan with the puck when trying to lightly throw the puck towards the face off circle. That is not controling a game...even if Doan had real intent.

You start suspending guys for 20-30-40-50 games, you bet your ASS they will start responding to it. These suspensions are a FUCKING JOKE. What the **** does a guy making MILLIONS in a season care about a $2500 fine??? He spends more on his fucking bar tab when he goes out on an off-night!!! When you start taking away 40-50% of the money they are earning, you start making a point. You start threatening their CAREERS and their LIVELIHOOD, and you start making a point. You start costing them their fucking corvettes, their fucking BMWs, etc, you start making a point. These suspensions are as fucking disgraceful as the guys making the hits. GET SOME FUCKING BALLS, NHL.

I've heard some people saying the offenders should be out for as long as the victim is out. I'm not sure about that but I don't mind them paying for the victim's salary during that time. That would probably stop these hits pretty fast.

I don't think those ideas will work, still good ones. But check this one out. Take a bit of Pez's idea and go batshit insane with the length of suspensions. And for every 10 games suspended the team loses a draft pick starting with the 1st rounder. If they traded it. They have to trade for it back or face a 5 million dollar fine. If they run out of picks for that year, it starts ticking into the next draft.

Punish the team just as hard as the player and you will see these guys either straighten up and fly right or see them leave the league in droves because no one will employ them.

I still want to know why Torres doesn't get kicked out of the game, but RK gets kicked out of the Kettle One.

I miss the old NHL, where you absolutely hated the other team (see Fergie), but played with honor and respect.

At some point the players better start looking in the mirror and start policeing themselves.

Steve Konroyd hit it right on the head during one of the intermissions.

The worst part for me last night is the fact that the former director of officials 2 years ago WAS one of the referees last night.

Steven Walkom. This was his second fucked up game of the early going this playoffs.

If you think about it what good does it really do for us if Torres gets suspended. Nothing, its not like he is their top line or anything, Thats what pisses me off. I know this sounds stupid, But I wish the Hawks organization would not even play this series and give it to the Yots(Bettman) and say were are no longer going to take this crap unless the NHL does something or an outside source investages further. What then would the NHL do but shit in there pants. I now that would never happen but. I just hope there are pictures in the locker room of Hossa laying down not responsive so they come out and win the next three from sheer motivation.

When that happened, my wife even said "That's it, I give up"

What a horseshit league.

It would be easier to impose cap penalties. Every so many team games with a player suspened for an illegal hit/cheap shot drop a chunk of money from the team's cap space.

As for the game it was nauseating to watch. Display of everything that is wrong with officiating and the NHL. I'd bet dollars to donuts Toews and Q will be fined for their comments criticizing the league and it's officials.

Don't expect Shanaban to handle the situation appropriately either. He lost the opportunity to make a statement when he failed to punish Weber.

I think the standard was set last year by the Bruins who won the Cup playing down right nasty. The refs swallowed their whistles or the B's would have been penalized on every shift. The teams in this years playoffs are bordering thuggery and this is just the opening round. Shanahan has to lay down big suspensions , maybe a whole season before the players wake up.

BTW how the **** did 4 officials and every Yote interviewed not see the play?

The official #97 was ten feet away and looking right at it.

Also I understand Bettman was at the game and was not happy.

The Blackhawks are one of the flagship organizations in the league, a shit team with no fanbase like Phoenix should not be given the advantage of biased officiating .

Yup. It was "closed" after the game. You know when it's supposed to be open an hour after. Only if you had a "tab" were you allowed to go down and pay it. The United Center is a fucking Circus. I'm so done with it, I'm still fucking hot.

They can all **** OFF! Shove it up their ass where the fucking sun don't go! **** THEM!!!! Fucking Hooligans!

Was it because of OT and how late in the night it was?

And not liked by the rest of the NHL Officials because of the way he "came back" into the fold. The officiating is a fucking joke, from top to bottom. It always has been and always will be. There is no integrity. There is and has always been bias through out the entire league. Not just where the Hawks are concerned.
