If our power-play didn't suck and our stars played like stars we might have won this series too.
Great goalies left for all four teams in the West. Maybe a good goalie and great depth was the way to go a few years ago, but...
Nah those teams have better coaching staffs. We have McDonough, he'd make anyone suck
That sucked. The remainder of the West playoffs are going to suck. Trap vs Trap. I hope they get an anti-climatic Stanley cup Panthers vs Phoenix.
I'd say yes, and I'd hate to see him go, but I am at the point where everything under Rocky (only excluding him because it's not possible) should go. Yep, everyone, To go from winning the cup to barely making the playoffs and getting bounced in the first round. They have had a regime change and it's not for the better. Hell you can even get rid of Dr. Terry the massage guy, Cornielison, I know I don't even have to mention the booth, everyone in the front office, Waite, everyone. Only ones who are are the Ice Crew that is hot enough, and Frank. Because no one has kept it real like Frank Pelico.
By the 4th goal all I could do is laugh...
Here's hoping lessons from this year are learned and following into next year.
Can I start the Mike Haviland for head coach bandwagon?
Nah those teams have better coaching staffs. We have Q, he'd make anyone suck
Bookie is the Fuhrer of that bandwagon
It sucks to see the season end like that. Even a day later I'm still discouraged by this season. So much talent and potential and none of it shined through.
I would say Toews, Kane, Hossa and Sharp are all in the top 25 skilled forwards in the league, yet our PP was awful. Hell, their stats in the series left a lot to desire, especially Sharp with 1 goal (Bollig had the same in 2 less games and way less of minutes).
I'd like to see Kane take a step up next year into a "superstar" player. The skill and talent is there, but the production was that high this year. I understand him being shuffled among positions doesn't help him get a groove going on, but this was his worst year offensively in pretty much every category and when Toews dropped IMO he didn't take the reigns as the go-to guy.
Leddy I hope takes a step forward next year as he seemed to stall out this year compared to last year (I might be being generous).
Honestly, our defense as a whole needs to better themselves. Our 5 on 5 game was horrible; think 28th in goals against for even strength. That needs to be worked on, which might be a whole new coaching philosphy.
Either way, a lot to work on this off season.
