My thoughts are pretty much with everyone else (except the guy that blamed Crow for the loss.)

I also observed a couple things:

1. We regressed back into poor puck decisons again last night. There were times though when we had the good sense to "reset" the play by passing the puck back to the D, maintaining possession and going again, but lots of other times we just iced it or puked it ahead and gave it to Phoenix in the neutrel zone. (You DO have do to that if you're in serious trouble...but we did it too readily last night.)

2. Both teams had lots of trouble handling the puck last night...ice must not have been much more than mush. On that ice it may be a real challenge to play our puck possession style.

3. Smith is not square to shooters on low angle shots--looked quite shakey on those. We should shoot those (since the D gives them to us) and get to the right areas for the rebound...we did not do that part on the low angle shots.

I thought that as well. He just wasn't moving side to side that fast. I bet a cross-crease pass would work too, Sharpie loves burying those.

You just want them to do so you can say you do that play in video games.

I just can't seem to get over that to many men on the ice no call.

get over it. It's a sixty minute game, in a seven game series. It sucks, but it's not like it was game seven.

yup gotta get over it. It wont be the last non call in the series where a goal is scored. In the cup run there were loads of them on the hawks and the flyers all the way through their deep runs. Its playoff hockey the teams that overcome the bad or missed calls are the ones that go deep. Unless you are the canucks then you go deep by having calls go in your favor.

While it changed the momentum we had 3 PP's after that. Although the call on Bolland was bullshit and that led to a 5 on 3.

Notice no one mentioned the PK killed two penalties, and one of them over a minute 5 on 3 against???

Yeah, I thought that would give us the momentum for a win.

It did change momentum. Hammer had some help in that too. The missed call was bad..hammers play may have been worse. Make that plays...plural...he fucked up a few times that shift. Not sure which was worse..the non call or the shift. It did all start with a bad turnover...as did the second goal against.

Like you said rk the 5 on 3 kill was good stuff. Hawks also had plenty of pp chances to turn momentum.

Im still not concerned about this series. I may be cocky but i think the hawks could take the next four. Maybe i should give the yotes more respect...but i dont think they are better than us at all

Anyone who looks at save % over a season to rate a goalie has shitferbrains.

Anyone who looks at it from game to game doesn't even have that.

Niemi had an.882 save percentage in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Flyers and a .898 save percentage in the series against the Canucks in 2010.

The first PP unit didn't look bad, but the second unit was complete garbage. They didn't generate anything on the PP. So, the Hawks basically turned every 2 minute PP into 1:00-1:15. They have to do something with that second PP unit. For starters, Bolland should be on it, PLAYING UP FRONT. Amazingly enough, he was the leading faceoff guy for the Hawks last night. Q's obsession with Brunette was a huge gaff last night, especially on that second PP unit.

Q yanks the 1st unit after 30-35 seconds sends out the 2nd unit then sends the 1st unit back to finish the PP with 20-25 seconds left.

Sure hope he doesn't suit up Morrison Saturday.

John Scott would be a real asset about now.

Pretty obvious - he would make Doan think twice about his 'second concussion' strategy.

That's all for this week's episode, but be sure to tune in next week to "Bad Hockey Thoughts!" Topic of discussion: Don Cherry. Undiagnosed autistic or simple minded hockey dinosaur? Don't miss it!
