"The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms with goaltender Ray Emery on a one-year contract extension.

Emery, 29, has compiled a 15-9-4 record and 2.81 goals-against-average in 34 appearances for the Blackhawks this year, his first season in Chicago. He has posted a 10-0-3 record and 2.15 GAA in 16 appearances at the United Center."

I have no idea why the would do this? Going to run with two #2's or what? And Emery's hips may explode at any moment.

Better than having Salak backing up for the Hawks next year...

Why not wait and look at some FA options?

It's apparently for $1.15M...

I don't know if there are very many goalies that will hit the market this year...

No idea what the FA list is anyway, but I know that if we signed Emery this early, the market isn't as good this year...

its all good.

rememeber when everyone wanted Craw traded a month ago?

Craws still the number 1. He will be for a while. Nothing wrong with a cheap bac up goalie keeping cap space. And keeing Rockys walet heavier.

Not a bad price...total 3.8 in goalies going into next season. Hopefully Crawford's save percentage gets closer to .910 or at least to league average

Emery was a solid backup..had a very good 12gm stretch in DEC...and a 5gm stretch in FEB

I hope Oduya is next

I don't mind.

I could sense you were all wondering.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
The Blackhawks' Salak buzz is gone.

We were. Good thing you are a Samuri and not a Ninja or we would have never known.

Samuri is roasted Yak on a stick from Nepal.

Unless that's what you meant...then, well played.

Glad to see Emery back. He is a team player and did a fine job keeping the Hawks in games. The Hawks need to work on signing Oduya!

I was utterly disgusted to hear this tonight.

I would like Hutton to get a chance too, but this is Chicago. We don't give goalies a chance. They have to wait far longer than they should, and then steal it away from somebody when they finally get the chance.
