The Chicago Blackhawks will be without center Jonathan Toews for a short stretch. According to several sources, it is not related to the wrist injury that Jonathan had suffered earlier in the season (before the All-Star break) and he should not miss significant time due to the injury.
At the moment, it is defined as a day-to-day injury. Jonathan did not participate in practice this morning, but it is unknown when or where the injury was suffered.
"Johnny is important in a lot of ways, whether it's his leadership or the quality and the quantity of ice time that he's out there for," Quenneville said. "He leads us in a lot of ways. It's up to some other guys to step up and absorb some quality ice (time) and some responsibility and contribute in their ways. Don't try to be Johnny, but be yourself."
Toews, 23, has scored 29 goals as well as adding 28 assists and a plus-17 rating in 59 games this season. The Blackhawks are 32-20-7 with Jonathan in the line-up this year.
