Now being reported that it's a concussion that he suffered at the beginning of the road trip and he hid the symptoms....

http://www.chicagono...s-a-concussion/

hope it's not true. And if it is, guys a dick for reporting it. Can't wait to see Canuck Defensemen trying to drill his head into the glass on his first game back.

If that was the case, then you have to take one for the team. Get Scott on the ice, and wait for a goalmouth scrum, have Scott grab Mary-Kate and Ashley, and have him knock their melons together a la Mr. T.

I have a real hard time believing he was concussed in San Jose and was able to "hide it" for 9 more games? Seriously. The same "concussed player" drove to the net and scored that goal in Columbus? Come on.

talk about being irresponsible. Notice not ONE of the other reporters, who are acually IN the locker room had said nothing like this?

Berglund hit JT pretty good during the Blues game. Enough JT went after him, which like I said earlier is not like JT.

Irresponsible.

Toews was pretty quiet during most of the trip.

And when are the Blackhawks beat writers the authority?

Being in the locker room does NOT guarantee every story.

Also, reporters aren't "dicks" for reporting bad news.

They're reporters.

maybe you missed his goal in Columbus. Not to mention he was injured BEFORE the AS break. Remember?

And when are the Blackhawks beat writers the authority?

They are actually in and around the team. You know, their sources are there.

Being in the locker room does NOT guarantee every story.

it most certainly gives you a better chance. And since you've never been in and around it you wouldn't understand.

Also, reporters aren't "dicks" for reporting bad news.

the way it was implied was pretty irresponsible. But Jim you like Jay so your automatically bias.

They're reporters.

The ones following the team would certainly know long before the one not.

To imply he was hiding concussion symptoms from the Sharks game on is pretty looney if not near impossible. Can you count the games in between there? NO ONE on the entire coaching staff, conditioning staff, noticed? You have any clue how near impossible that would be?

Might he be concussed, sure. Might it have come from the St. Louis game, sure. Might his Source been full of shit, sure!

Again, this comes to the point in which the NHL is very careful about concussions/hits to the head.

In this day and age in which the league is "concussion crazy," there's no way that Toews sat on this type of injury.

Sorry but scoops happen all the time.

When's the last from the beat writers?

Players need to learn that they must be forthright with their doctors.

Two concussions for Toews.

Not good.

You are ASSuming what he's saying is true. SOURCE does not equal TRUE!

If you don't think Toews is Forthright with the medical team you obviously don't know him.

Thankyou.

The other advantage the Blackhawks provide is that their team doctor always travels with them-- most NHL teams don't do that. If Toews was able to go under the radar for that long, then it's time to relieve Dr. Terry.

It goes to reputation. Jay has a good one, and is not one to spread gossip.

If the source is reliable, and the reporter is reliable, then the scoop can be believable.

He does? Maybe you should check with others that actually do what he's trying to do before you say that. I would think since they are in and around the trenches every day their opinion on that subject would not only be valid, but very credible. Jay is a fan, they are doing their Job. There is a difference. Ask any of them.

Again while JT may have a concussion to imply he's had it since San Jose and report that is very irresponsible IMO.

Wait until one of the reporters now asks JT if he's been "hiding his concussion". See what his reply is.

My problem was not with Jay reporting Toews may have a concussion. It was the rest of the crap he reported.

Hey if that's what floats your boat Jim, good for you. I don't consider Jay reliable I consider him a fan. I consider those around the team reliable for the most part. Everything other than "JT may possibly have a concussion" is as you say, "Spreading gossip".

No kidding. And the coaching staff, Goodman the conditioning trainer and probably up the ladder since after all Toews = Franchise at this point.

For sure.

Someone should be asking.

Perhaps the beat writers with all of their access will.

I find it extremely unlikely and probably impossible to hide a concussion for that length of time. Especially on a road trip when almost the entire time is spent around teammates and the staff. He might have a concussion, sure. But I really doubt he got it that far back and has been hiding it all this time.

I have been paying attention a lot to JT lately, and his shot is noticeably off. He isn't following through and snapping the puck like he used to. Looks to me like a left shoulder or arm injury. That's his bottom hand as well, and is extremely important in winning faceoffs, which he is also struggling with. I'm sticking with the shoulder or elbow injury.

Foley mentioned a bit of this a few games back during the losing streak.

One would hope that isn't the organ-i-zation's way of letting the fans know there's an injury ("We'll let the play by play guy give them a hint").

But Elkund reported it then....well....that that to the bank. (Of Fannie May)

Seriously though everyone's symptoms from a concussion are VASTLY different. Could just be headaches and a bit of feeling tired.

My point is that you never know what a player could or could not hide, so this is a scary ASSertion but I hope it's founded on something that was pulled out of the first 3 letters. Get well JT!
