Is this a serious question?

I really don't know much about concussions, so let me ask a dumb question.

Aren't you more succeptable to another one next time and don't they get more serious each time?

Not sure.

It would be a question I would have to ask one of the docs I work with.

I've heard that it's not the "big hits" that really cause the problem, it's all the "little" hits in between that makes thing worse. I don't see how he was able to hide it for all that time, unless people were willingly turning a blind eye. Unfortunately I can't rule that out, because it's the NHL. I don't think it would be impossible to think he could play with them, players have all the time in past years.

I don't think it's a dumb question and most would probably tell you It depends on the individual, their brain and the severity of trauma to it. Players like Eager on on their 7th, 8th. It's such a new science of study I tend to believe 100% individual and that no doctor would give you the same answer.

I find it funny WSCR the Joke of Chicago Sports is now the breaking news outlet. Now thats fucking funny. Wonder when Mike North is returning. LOL

I can't rule it out, doesn't mean I think it happened in this case. I don't see how it did if they're saying it was re-aggravated Feb 10th. I can see how maybe it was found out after the Blues game later or something, but not for that long a period.

why is the ignore feature working, then not working. I knew I was replying to something I normally don't see. I'll edit it.

Does it really matter what his injury is?

This question confirms that Mach29 is not the fuckin goofiest poster on this board. Ask Sidney Crosby, Peter Muller, Marc Savard, and David Perron this same stupid question. Try to find Kim Johnsson and see what he thinks.

As for the beat reporters following the Hawks, if they directly report something like this McDick would be on their editors faster than a blown scoring chance by Frolik.

RK, my fellow Alum, I respect your opinion but Toews scoring that beauty of a goal against Columbus does not disprove the possibility of him having concussion like symptoms. I think back to last year when the previously mentioned David Perron was waxed by Joe Thorton as Thorton came out of the penalty box and leveled an unsuspecting Perron(Similar to Willie Mitchell on JT). Peron left the ice then came back and scored the game winner in that game. Perron was then interviewed post game and said he was fine. I breathed a sigh a relief as I had Perron in my BHP's Bandwagon fantasy league(I'm the perpetual reigning champ). Perron then missed the next 300+ days of activity due to concussion like symptoms.

It happens.

Let's hope Zawarski is wrong in this case.

how many games between San Jose and the Wings game last night? Perron did that in the same game and then was out there after. As much as I dislike this organization I can not believe they would jeoprodize the Franchise by allowing him to play. I also find it extremely hard to believe they would not know.

I do believe he could have a concussion and that part of the "breaking News" I have zero problem with. It was the following speculation, bullshit I have a problem with.

Okay. I'll try to avoid speculation

Seem s to me Marc- Edouard Cuntsic took several runs at JT during the San Jose game. I remember thinking why are the Hawks letting Valsic, of all players, to work over Toews. There was a point when Vlasic worked over JT on the right-side offensive zone boards and Toews was very slow to get up from the ice. The Great Pat Foley woke up from a life long drunken stupor to acknowledge the incident.

Edit- I guess that is some implied speculation

And Berglund just hammered JT in the first period of the St. Louis game. Which was it? Considering he missed the next game which was last night.

I'm too implying speculation. I had a "source" tell me something last night but I'm not trying to get hits to my blog, and or "I broke the story syndrome" so will keep it to myself. I don't believe he was allowed to play concussed, and or anything was hidden, and or he JT hid anything.

But like Puck Jim says if you "Hear something" its your responsibility to report it, I suppose no matter if its' true, confirmed, or not. Hard to do when you aren't really a reporter and a fan.

RK, the HF Board/Pipe Dream in me would love to see nothing more then Stan make a play for Brendan Morrow or Shane Doan to ride shotgun and more with JT and Kane. The kind of talent and grit that says don't **** with our big guns that Sharp and Stalberg can never provide. Then I wake up.

Also, reporters aren't "dicks" for reporting bad news.

They're reporters.

yes, it is a dick move, the injuries are not disclosed for a reason. Or do you not remember what Hamhuis did in the playoffs last year??

There's no way he was concussed and kept it a secret. If they even suspect in the slightest that a player may have bumped his head falling out of bed that morning they're keeping him in the quiet room until he can recite Proust.

Sorry, I can't resist...

Newfi: Do I have to write you letter? I'm talking about the concussion in the San Jose game. I'll be nice: you didn't see it, right. What's with the Ron Paul affliction anyway? It gets kind of old after fifty posts a week. To close off with you: the shot about some guy having three "cheap labor":Mexicans working for him was not just Waspy but flat out Redneck.

Found this information about them: (It's for football, but it certainly applies.)

http://www.cdc.gov/c...t_Coaches-a.pdf

The scary point here is that is points out that it can be a blody blow that causes rapid movement of the head that can be a cause. It also says that a player may just "feel down"...we SHIT we were in the worst losing streak of the season. Would be easy for a player to attribute "feeling down" to that.

and this...

http://espn.go.com/c...est-concussions

Here's one from December about a hockey player hiding a concussion:

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/hockey/leafs-beat/maple-leafs-armstrong-only-the-latest-nhler-to-conceal-concussion/article2278663/

In this case it indicates the the player was able to hide the injury for the day of the hit and then had to point to another injury to explain missing the next game. It does not indicate thatthe player was able to hide it several days, but then again everyone's symptoms can be different.

PLEASE LET THIS BE A BOGUS RUMOR!

If he did in fact have a concussion, HE may not have even realized it until days or a week later. He may not have been hiding anything from anyone. He may have woken up the other day an been foggy, then said something to the coaches and Dr. T and they checked him out and sat him.

We don't know, because they are not obligated to tell anyone but the league and they can all keep secrets pretty fucking well.

I'm not saying he HAS a concussion or that he DID hide it or that the team HID it, but the possibility of him having a concussion exists whether some of you like it or not.

Not if no one notices anything different about the player. The players are not looked at every morning when they get to practice to see if they are totally healthy. There is no tricorder in the Hawks training room either.........
