Don't fool yourself with the real dollars dance. The Hawks are light-years ahead of where they have been in revenue and are again at the top of the league in revenues and profit. Since most of those fans are still newer bandwagon fans, winning is the only thing that still matters to keep them. It doesn't matter what the real world payroll actually is to the organization. It's all about capspace because they know for the right deal they will take it, no matter what it puts the real world at if it means helping the team win. They have the money. They have the revenue. If real world dollars mattered and they were already up against the wall of some fictitious payroll then Huet and Olie would be here right now because the cap space wouldn't matter as they wouldn't be allowed to spend over their "real dollar's" payroll anyway.

At some point they have to stop, they are not going to keep adding and adding to $75,000,712. I will side with, no one will be added until the TDL because of the their overall payout of real dollars.

But I get it, it is always easier to spend someone else money.

Actually, they really don't have to stop. This is a $300 million dollar organization right now value wise. The second biggest increase of any team, a revenue of 120 and a operating income of 17.2 million. And that's just what's reported, and this was from last year. It's one of the fastest growing teams by revenue in the league. And while things obviously have to be within reason, the whoring out of every inch of space to advertisers gives them plenty of revenue to not be up against any wall when it comes to winning. In this case real or cap. Hypothetically of course If they had someone else they could waive to sign a 10 million player that would fix the team. They would do it. They would have the flexibility to do it, and they and their would be approval to do it. Stan get's the ability to do this right now because all of his money that he is spending that is not on the ice can be "blamed" on Talon by him at this point. He hasn't really signed any albatross contracts at this point, so he'll get free reign until he does.

Best case scenario for the hawks for me, and no hating on Olie because I don't really hate or like him I just don't think he will ever live up to the contract, he plays outstanding for rockford helps that team out a lot and is claimed off waivers when they try to bring him back. Or he stays in the AHL. Sure it would be nice if he played out of his mind in Rockford and it translated to the NHL, but that to me will be a bit of a gamble come deadline time and I'd much rather them have the flexibility to trade for something of a more known quantity. (Yes I know whoever they get will have a chance to flop)...

Bottom line is, the rich teams will always find ways to spend.

Ole will not see the light of day in the NHL this year, there is no way the Hawks chance him being claimed via re-entry and have to take a cap hit for 1.6m for the next 2.5 yrs. Like you said previously, cap space is king in the league.

Correction. If there is an injury he can be recalled with no re entry waivers. So there is a VERY GOOD chance he will play in Chicago again this year.

Yep, I forgot about the 50% there for a second... He's not coming back except for injury like RK said. Unless somehow he tears it up and it included in a trade, which could be the only other reason I could see him getting sent down. Increase his trade value?

That brings me to an odd question... If he's in the A and gets traded, does he still have to clear waivers to be brought back up for the new team?

Yes. I'm almost 100% positve if traded or recalled, other than for injury call up, he will have to pass Re-entry Waivers.

Again he has a NTC, and not many teams, even with the discount are going to take a hold of that one. That contract was FUCKED>

No NTC listed with his contract numbers in CapGeek..not saying CapGeek is the gospel but they list NTC's with other players that have them.

I remember something about a NTC... but the Panthers may have traded him before it kicked in (July 1st) and maybe capgeek never updated it? Just a guess. I know Campbell had a NTC, but I think Olesz did too.

Maybe it kicks in next year?

I'm almost positive he has a NTC.

TSN ---

Olesz has a no-trade clause that kicks in on July 1.

That's what I thought too.

They couldnt trade him or buy him out before July 1st because he came on the IR and you can't buy out or trade a player on the IR.

There is still hope, these bad contracts can be unloaded because of the cap floor requirement. Maybe the Islanders will take him next summer to help them reach the cap floor.

They'll buy him out and take the 300k hit. They'd have done that this year if he didn't come pre injured.

Depends on how the NTC is structured, who says he would waive that to go to the Islanders?

I think the buy-out is likely.

Also, RK, a player could be traded when on IR, I think that's a myth. There's no rule.
