If Luongo disappeared "when the game was on the line" or when the game "counted" as consistently as people say he did, the Canucks don't even make the playoffs or ever advance in the playoffs.

I hate Lou. But even if I didn't his contract is a fucking anchor. I never want a goalie with that long of a commitment. One that Vancouver is running out of town no less.

I'm torn.

When he was with the Twins, I hated A.J. Pierzynski more than any player in Baseball, but I've loved every second he's played with the Sox. As much as I've hated, and still hate Bobbi, A few beers and a shutout might help me to forget.

I just don't see Scotty Jr. having the balls to actually do it, so it's probably moot.

Stan isn't the one that would lack the balls.

Gillis won't do this.

Craw/Frolik and Beach (seems like a good fit there...and isn't that his home?)

Wouldn't mind, but it's the contract that bothers me. Lou would be an upgrade and he's a good goalie no matter what we like to say about him.

5mil hit is bad?

Everyone is complaining about the years....he an play until he's 40-which is 7 more years. The cap will kelp going up. And worse case...he gets buried. Rocky has done that already

obvious upgrade, would be hilarious to see him win with us rather than our rivals

also, as has been pointed out, was it really him melting down or his average defense and whole team turning into goons taking dumb penalty after another?

also, who says they even melted down, really, but just simply werent a good team to be beating us or anyone besides the fucking blues or preds?

Give me a break.. Lou was not the soul reason the Canucks ran to the final last year or the reason his teams have made the playoffs the last few years that goes to the Sedins much more than him, a shitty division and an outstanding special teams (pp esp.). He was as big a factor as Niemi was when we WON it.

What has he done in Vancouver before and after that run? 1st and second round eliminations..embarrassing ones (ohhh how quickly people forget). How far did he "carry those teams"? Was so good last year he lost the position to Schnieder late in the series as the team lost confidence in him (in his defence they would have lost anyways). Schnieder has also covered unreal for him the last two years while he missed games due to injuries..so you can thank Cory for their playoff births also. In case anyone doesn't realize Lou has been suffering an ongoing groin issue since the 08/09 season which forces him to miss good stretches of the seasons now. He comes with other packages which are becoming problems. He isn't worth the gamble and he's not really that big of an upgrade over Craw (who by the way for those who have short memories outplayed Lou 2 years ago in the first round).

he also didn't help take his Canuck team to the playoffs in 07/08 and has been in the playoffs 5 times in his 11 year career (yah that includes the shitty Panther teams I know...but he was "sooo good there and one of the best goalies in the league" one would think he would at least get his team to the playoffs once...never happened.

I really don't care about the cap hit when I think about it. I don't like the guy (another point.. he does nothing in this city as far as community goes..he pisses off and hides in Florida..there are other reasons half the fan base here don't like him). And first and foremost he is def over-rated if we want to talk technical...his high glove hand is getting bad..his cross movements are slow...he can't handle a puck at all..his low game is good hes horrible at high shots (blueprints been out on Lou for a few years now and he hasn't made any adjustments). No one wants to talk about technical flaws with Lou..why is that?

Upgrades can be found elsewhere in my opinion. Give me Tim Thomas for a year then see how the goalie market is next year if it's that big of a concern. I really don't think it is a emergency myself. Center or LW holes should be filled first. AND THE POWERPLAY NEEDS TO BE WAAAAY BETTER. With Lou or not if that powerplay isn't fixed Hawks aren't better than last year...same problems will surface. Powerplay hurt this team last year in reg season and in the first round..as did losing Hossa as did many defensive brain farts...Sharp went flat...and not enough offense. Cory was guilty of bad ot games no doubt about it but he also got the Hawks into them incase anyone forgot. Lou was guilty of losing games in the playoffs too every year he has been in them.

Not a big enough upgrade...not a good personality or character...not a technically sound goalie....not a mentally strong goalie...prone to injuries and an on going groin issue...NOT A GOOD IDEA.

And no shit..he isn't a free agent. It's going to cost something to get him and it's not going to be a 4th round pick...be prepared to give up good prospects to a conference rival. Give your heads a shake.

TCD...list me all his first round eliminations

List me his third round and final appearances. He has had one...and he melted...melted bad.

Yah my bad hes never been eliminated in the first round until last year. Almost 2 times though...game 7 O.T. one goal away after being outplayed by our shitty goalie.

Melted in the finals with 3 wins...2 of them by shutout?
Melted in the finals with 3 wins...2 of them by shutout?

melted...did you watch the final two games? Did you watch game 3 when he got lit up big time? Game 4 when he shit the bed? Each game he lost in those finals were baaaaaaaaad loses. Really bad. Thomas had 2 shut outs also...why not go after him if we are talking about goalies who have had shut outs in the cup final. At least Thomas didn't allow 18/19 goals against in 4 games ( or what ever that horrible number was).

Yeah...he lost some games "bad" in the finals...but lets look -

Gm 1 - w - 1-0 36 saves/Shutout

Gm 2 - w - 3-2 .28sv/933%

Gm 3 - 8-1 Loss...30sv (was he supposed to win 1-0?)

Gm 4 - 4-0 Loss...pulled in the 3rd

Gm 5 - 1-0 Win at home....rebounds with 31 saves

Gm 6 - pulled after 9min in...giving up 3g

So his offense in the first 6gms gave him 6g - and he had 3 wins

If he wasn't in VAN people would be begging for him

If he wasn't over-rated and not a huge gamble he would have been traded by now. Florida and Dale would have pulled the trigger on the deal by now if he was sooooo good.

if he was sooooooo good the Canucks wouldn't be asking him to waive his ntc and they would have let Schnieder walk...who hasn't played a full season at #1.

If he wasn't such a stubborn selfish arrogant asshole and actually had a list of realistic and fair teams he would waive his ntc for he would have been traded by now. For a guy wanting out of Vancouver he sure is making it harder on the team to deal him..they are forced to talk to the same 2-3 teams every damn day (and its just now that the list of teams has seemed to grown as HE STATED HIMSELF A COUPLE WEEKS AGO FLORIDA WAS THE ONLY TEAM ON HIS LIST). The Canucks sure the **** have paid him well and have gave him everything he ever asked for since he came here. Nice of him to repay the team and the fans and city by making it harder on them to move forward.
