Not really a joke at all. The Brewers gave up a lot more in terms of quality than we did.

Right, because ESPN is always right about everything.

Is there ever a move the cubs make that you dont like? is there anything that the cubs can do wrong? seriously.

Why does every move have to be the end of the world? See, two can play that game.

He didn't say it was the end of the world. He's a Sox fan, he can laugh, not freak out.

Let's see how many of the players we gave up actually materialize into big league players before we jump to conclusions. Every player in the farm system can not make the Cubs big league club. The farm system is a tool to build players that other teams want so we can take their players that are already proven. If you can develop and keep a few players here and there consider that a success!

It's sole purpose is not to trade them, it is the reinforce the big league team as the number 1, develop future players for your team as the number 2, and trade them as the number 3.

Unless, of course, you are the Yankees.

Yes, they do do things I don't like. Yes, they do wrong. Seriously.

What have they done that's sooooo bad this offseason? The only thing that could even been considered bad that I can think of offhand is the Garza trade and Hendry more than made up for it with the Gorzo trade.

It's sole purpose is to make the big league team better. Plain and simple.

There are a couple ways about going about that ex. trade, develop, et cetera.

IK, just saying the the only point isn't to "trade them" like vick, wade, and daddies seem to think.

Really? The only teams that keep their own minor league players are small market teams that can not afford anyone else. As soon as they have success in the majors they get sucked up by another team bacause they can't afford to pay them.

Hmmm... so the Yankees never called up a top prospect named Derek jeter and the Cubs never kept Zambrano, Soto, Castro, Cashner, Colvin, etc. then?

I don't have a problem with giving up prospects for "proven" players but to say that only small market teams hold on to their farm developed players is just not true.

That's my point.

I'm just saying that and that you don't trade every damn prospect you have.

I never said they "never" keep their farm developed players when in reality if a farm developed player does turn out the large market teams are the only ones who can give them the big contract and keep them. The small market team loses that player to the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs etc.

So....are you saying the Yankees and Cubs are small market teams?? If Jeter and Zambrano were raised in the farm system of a small market team do you think they would still be there with their?? You have proven my point!

No, you said that big market teams don't keep their minor leaguers, which they obviously do. You claim that as a big market team, you trade several top prospects for an average Joe, which is exactly what Matt Garza is. If we got Greinke, it'd be OK, but that haul for Garza just isn't right.

You may be correct and then again you may be wrong. We'll have to wait and see how Greinke and Garza perform with their new teams to see.

As soon as Chris Archer becomes a Cy Young Award Winner (not saying he will), everyone will be calling for Hendry's head.

If we were a team with playoff aspirations, I'd be OK with it. It simply wasn't the right time to make a move like that IMO, this isn't 2008.
