My favorite teams
  1. Portland Timbers
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
I love the cynicism here. It's definitly warranted...

That being said, Moving Hammer may be addition by subtration getting Olsen up here and telling him to be all over anything that gets into the blue paint like Sandusky on an unsuspecting kid (too soon?), and the line of Kane/Gagner/Hossa does give my balls a tingly feeling.

but all accounts say Luongo doesn't want to come to the Hawks.....

And he can stay out.

If I wanted a first round exit in the playoffs each year, I'd have Corey Crawford in net.... Oh wait....

If Hammer moving opens up space for Suter, sure. But like TCD, I have ZERO faith in the front office. 2 years may not be enough to properly analyze the job the GM and his helpers are doing, but they haven't done shit to prove otherwise.

Olsen can do that by replacing Montador as #6. I have no reason to believe he can replace Hammer at #3and Gagner and Kane on a line together? Seems way too small to work in the NHL.

Depends on who the 3rd is. I think Olsen will be better than Hammer. Bigger, more physical... Maybe not this year, but in the years to come.

I still believe they will push for Suter. I think that was the plan all along. Now the question is will our GM get it done, or continue to give us reasons to question him being a GM.

You forgot who coaches this team.

Also, Q would probably have Gagner play with Kane centering, and Carcillo on the LW.

of course he will make a push. Like I said, he will trade Hammer before free agency. Problem is Suter won't sign here, and we will have a huge hole (more than we do now) on the blueline. Bowman will throw his hands in the air and say "we tried!"Also, if we can sign Suter to the contract he wants, why didn't we just keep Campbell? It's going to be a similar cap hit.

I wouldn't be to sure Suter won't sign here. Not saying he's going to but there is as good of a chance he lands here, than ANY where else. Can't say how I know that, but I believe it. And depending on the contract I think his cap hit will be 1.5 less than Campbell.

And he's twice the defender Campbell is. Not even a comparison in that category.

Suter has been partner with a Norris candidate most of his career. Who knows how good he will look with Johnny Oduya, or Nick Leddy as his partner

Have you never watched Suter play? He's twice the player Campbell is. He's just as good on the PP, and way, way, way better defensively and on the PK. He led Nashville in PP points, and was fifth on their team in scoring with 46 points. I would LOVE to see what kind of numbers Suter puts up with a real top six in front of him, and a system that doesn't stifle the offense. Depending on where he goes next season, I could see Suter putting up Campbell-like points, while still being one of the best defenders in the NHL. Campbell put up only six more points than Suter last season....

Again, I'm just playing devils advocate. I know he's a great defensemen, but Like I said, the partner makes a huge difference.Keith and Seabrook = Keith is Norris ChampKeith and Leddy = Keep Keith off the Ice.

Seabrook is much more competent in his own zone than Leddy, hence why Keith didn't have to worry too much on the back-end as he does with Leddy.

Suter would be a great addition, but IMO i don't see him signing with the Hawks. If we bring in Suter, either Keith or Seabs will have to go at some point as that's a lot of potential $$$ spent on 3 defensemen.

Ok. But if he goes to Detroit, Suter is for all practical purposes taking over for Lidstrom. A perennial all star and future HOFer. Pretty daunting task. Take a shit ton of money and screw the pooch and Suter is in a bad position.

With Seabrook and Keith, he's not BMOC and a lot less pressure.

That isn't even a fair argument. Suter is a top 10 defenseman in the league. Probably one of the top 2 way Dmen. He doesn't make too many mistakes, if any, so he's not going to be hated on by the Wings. Plus, looking at the Wings, it's not like they are going to be in any trouble with being a contender year after year...

I think you misunderstand how important Lidstrom is/was to them. When he was hurt this season we almost passed them in the standings, they tanked hard.

Not a fair argument? Let me make it so.

In a span of two off seasons, Detroit has lost Rafalski, Lidstrom, and Stuart on the backend. Kronwall plays the same side(Left) as Suter so without Detroit making another addition, that leaves Suter paired with what? Ian White?

Look at it from Suter's perspective. He's gonna get the coin no matter what team he signs with. In Chicago, he might actually get paired with Seabrook which sure as hell beats any current option in Detroit. And there will be less pressure.
