I mean I ask for Ryan, Gagner, Pavelski, Latendresse, etc. and I might instead wind up with Turning 36 This Year Doan? Sighs.

toews and doan have a history together. they were room mates in the world championships they played together on the same line and Im sure despite doan turning into a shit head these last playoffs (which was really out of character for him) they are still on good grounds.

that's my guess. i would still take doan over any of these other old farts stan has signed since taking Gms job. that doesn't mean i do want doan as a first option as his best days are behind him and i don't think he will return to best form after the yotes loss..i think doan took it hard.

We do miss that "grit" left by the 2010 wingers, Doan would help that.

I hate seeing Doan on the ice when we play the Coyotes. He's difficult to play against. Didn't care for his antics during the playoffs this season. Having said that I would love him in the Indianhead.

Yeah antics in the playoffs aside, everyone has been loving Doan on this site for as long as I can remember. You gotta feel for a guy like him who got caught up in some serious BS like that and gave into it. To me as much a product of the environment going on down there as ever. So in the end I blame Torres.

But he's their captain. What happened to lead by example?

I just don't buy that he is a product of the environment.

Torres is just a ****** where ever he goes.

I agree with Tater.

I lost a lot of respect for Doan this past playoff season. There is a difference between playing hard and getting caught up in the moment and being a jackass and playing dirty.

Yep, whatever happened to leading by example. To me the suspensions for headshots and boarding etc. aren't as big of an issue, I can understand getting caught up in the game, especially for a guy who played 10+ years in the league when the majority of those hits were considered clean and were encouraged. The handshake line shit is bush league, and that's coming from a fan of a college team with a long line of handshake line altercations (See Joe Finley or Ben Blood handshake videos on YouTube for reference).

All that said Doan is a pretty good fit for our team. Still a good player who can put up 65 points, and plays physical. Would look really good on our top line with Toews and Kane.

i dont blame him for getting caught in the moment, he finally made the playoffs again after how long and for only what... the second or third time in his career??

i'd be playing like an animal if i was already 36 and only now finally getting past round 1. Plus, like was said, the environment for the past few years was ridiculously unstable and most of his career the hits he got in trouble for were totally legal. I dont recall a hit from him that wasnt just a product of the new dangerous speed of the NHL--shit just happens sometimes, unfortunately.

wouldnt mind seeing him as a Hawk, either.

I don't know the hand shake was the worst of all. Especially for the "Captain"....

Am I all alone in thinking that Suter is way yonder overhyped?

Slighty over-hyped only because the free agent market isn't top notch so the media has to hype someone.

Otherwise..no..he's a high caliber blueliner that isn't often available. He is a top 10 in the league.

EDIT:

Overhyped now for sure considering the rumoured length hes looking for..10-12 years with 90 mill through that? **** him. He's def over hyped at that price.
