I'm not sure about this, waldo, but I don't think emotions are added up like vectors, at least insofar as equal positive and negative emotions yield a neutral result, but rather just highs and lows. But hey, that's just me.

I think Dunn's defense (or lack thereof) will play a bigger factor than people think. It happened the last time Dunn was a FA, and it could happen again. Not to the extent of last time, but teams will have to their homework on how they want to use Dunn and if they want him in the game in the late innings when teams usually use defensive replacements.

I won't be terribly upset if they sign Dunn, but I still wouldn't like the move. Look at the Giants. They didn't have a big bat in their offense, and they won the WS w/ dominant pitching, defense, and clutch hitting.

PIPEDREAM. if were truely rebuilding why sign a type A FA that hits for RBI and HR? makes no sense. i would want him if we can though unless we let nady play the season and sign agon in 2011. (another pipedream)

Now look at our pitching, defense, and clutch hitting.

Who says we are truly rebuilding?

I think the Cubs are in the midddle of rebuilding. They have no problems playing younger players, but they still will sign and play veterans.

The Cubs are expected to make a play for Gonzo and they have what it takes to get him. So, we'll see. They Cubs will have to give up Vitters and JJ, among others in my opinion.

Waldo, you idiot....

Where does it say that the Cubs are expected to make a play at Gonzo? You show me where. That is such a far fetched fantasy, it isn't even funny.

If they did make a play at him, it'd be in FA next offseason.

I think he still is.

Is it a great possibility? No, but some of you act as if Dunn is Cliff Lee. I think the Cubs have about a 35% chance of getting Dunn.

It's not as much that Dunn doesn't want to come here, but I don't think the Cubs want him....IF we truly are in rebuild mode, we wont waste millions on a veteran

FWIW and I know it's not much but Aaron Boone predicted the Cubs would sign Dunn this offseason. He said it last night on baseball tonight.
