Are you disturbed by the cap logo experiments going on in spring MLB? I saw the new Dodger look on Kershaw. OMG! A stylized D in replicate of the Diamondbacks…but Blue. Die first before you quit on the LA! Same for NYC, or the big C. Or for any of the logos. Dodgers say they are only trying out an alternative look, and not too likely to supplement the tradition - other than maybe Sundays or special dates to align with promotions. D can stand for Dumbell’s as much as for Dodgers to a youngster. Can you imagine the Cubs dumping tradition for a stylized CHICTY appearing wind bent. Right.

Jesse Rogers is reporting Baez is going to return this week and that means the end for Kawasaki.

Also, seems the roster is pretty set. Maddon filled out the rotation behind Arrieta. Trevor Cahill is the emergency backup starter and Wood, Richard, and Warren have been told they are bullpen.

So roster,

C- Montero

First Base- Rizzo

Second Base- Zobrist

SS- Russell

Third Base- Bryant

Left Field- Schwarber/Soler

Center- Fowler

Right- Heyward

Bench- Ross, Baez, whoever doesn't play OF, and LaStella

P
Arrieta
Lester
Lackey
Hammel
Hendricks

Bullpen
Rondon
Strop
Cahill
Grimm
Wood
Richards
Adam Warren

The final spot is either going to be Ramirez.(Who is the favorite because he is out of options) or maybe a curveball. Maddon said the only way he see's Kawasaki make the team is an injury. Baez coming back would end that discussion. Also, the Cubs are going to try to get Matt Szczur through waivers but it seems the Phillies want to claim him as soon as the Cubs place him on waivers.

I'm a Miami Dolphins fan and they used pretty much that exact D on hat I used to have in the '90s. Spring training patches are one thing but to change so dramatically like that is ridiculous. This isn't Oregon football. My daughter had no idea it was a Dodgers hat and we live in LA.

Kinda sucks for Kawasaki because if you can actually win a job in spring training he's done as much as you can to do so. But I suppose that's the breaks. I would say it might also be possible that they let La Stella start in extended spring training and keep Kawasaki and then make the call later. La Stella didn't get a ton of time because of his injury issues. There's not much cost in giving him a few weeks/month to get going.

No surprises there. That's the lineup I've been predicting since ST started except that I was a bit shocked at the Rex Brothers washout, especially as early as it came. You'd like to see a stronger LHP for the pen than Richard but it us what it is. Cahill makes some sense as the swing man as there's been a lot of speculation that Warren might be an option at closer if Rondon falters.

I think that going to be the case..
LAStella stays in extended ST and Kawasaki goes North.
Otherwise why not release Kawasaki and give him a chance to join another team before season starts.

That's likely what they're going to do as soon as they get a clean report on La Stella from the trainers and medical staff. I heard this morning that could come as early as today. La Stella is their guy if he can go. They obviously want to be fair to Kawasaki but they also don't want to jump the gun.

I'd prefer to let Richard go, cause he garbage and keep both LAStella and Kawasaki..
I still don't see the purpose for 8 relievers and shortening the bench in NL

Honestly, I don't have much use for Richard either but clearly they want two lefties in the pen and he's elected, for now. I also don't disagree with you in principle on the 5 man bench but Maddon likes 13 pitchers and he's indicated that's what it would be from day one. We'll see if it changes going forward.

I don't think it's LaStella they are waiting for. It's Baez. I think they are waiting for a clean bill of health for him and to make sure his thumb is ready. That's what I got out of the Jesse Rogers article. I think LaStella has that clean bill already. Maddon is going to give Baez a lot of work this week.

The problem with Richard is that he's not very good out of the pen...he's better as a starter. He doesn't have good enough stuff to be a situational lefty and right handed hitters eat him up. Unless they're planning on spot starting him, I just don't see how he fits.

Richard will be the long relief guy that takes one for the team on those days where they get down by 7 or 8 runs early. Every team needs that guy.

Javy Baez to start the season on the DL.

They are going retro activate it from March 25th. I don't think he will miss many games. Kawasaki signed a minor league contract. Interesting to see what they do. Baez is on the major league team when he comes off

Kawasaki should be on major league roster..
Hopefully by end of April after starters gets a couple starts in ,Maddon eliminate a bullpen arm and adds him.

Szczur, LaStell, and Ramirez make the team. I would guess Szczur will be nixed when Baez comes off the DL.

He is 35 in June. I don't know what the fascination is with him. Not just you, others. He is the definition of expandable. He signed with us. He is depth if someone gets hurt, but that should be the only way he gets on this team.

Because I think hed be worth more for the team in long run then whoever the 8th reliever is...

Ive seen quite a few 35+ YO do a lot of damage coming off the bench over the years, so dont know why it matters much that he gonna be 35..

Think were going to be seeing a lot of him over the summer. .. think your wrong about him being just injury depth and expendable. .

We shall see

Honestly I give you credit for you persistence. You do not like the 13 man pitching staff at all and it's really been your POV all spring. No sarcasm, I respect it.
