I’ve met Alshon out a few times. He’s a very quiet guy. I’m suprised he had anything to say at all. He rarely talks

Just the opposite. I met him at a strip club in the South suburbs. He was "letting it rain" and becoming very obnoxious with the ladies dancing. I had to tell him to "settle down" before he got kicked out. Needless to say, the security thanked me and I got a free show.

Sorry dude but the only TE in the NFL that competes with Ertz is Kelce. Both of those guys are players to worry about. It just so happens to be that its the players that would be working the middle of the field on us. A lot. We haven't faced any TEs that are elite like them.

Ummmm have you looked into the year Kittle had? It’s pretty insane actually. Better than Ertz’s year and on par with Kelce’s year. And Kittle was working on a crap offense.

Ertz catches a lot of balls but he doesn’t stretch the field.

First time he comes across the middle he is gonna meet Amos, imo the most under rated player in the defense and playing better than ever. It will be alligator arms the rest the game for Jefferies. Amos hits similar to Mike Brown. Wish he ball hawked the same.

Alshon you fat slob. Keep declining in production. You are the Kevin white of the eagles.

Boom!

what if Mr. White gets 100 yds and maybe a TD with the DUB vs assSHON jerkfery gets shut-out with just maybe one catch?

Don't get the problem with what he said...just because a team drafted you doesn't mean you have to fall in love with the city.

I think it is more common to see a player who gets a second contract end up on a different team than to sign with the team that drafted them, so why wouldn't he love the second city he played for more than the first?

Having said that I can't wait to see him get 2 catches for 35 yards and no TD's. Fuller gonna lock him up and Mack, Roq Smitty, and NardFlo gonna have Foles running all game.

Well, couple of things.

For one, I get feeling the way Jeffery did, but its kind of a ***** move to say so to the press. Comes off as whining.

Two, its about professionalism. I liked Jeffery but still thought he half-assed way too much. Again, kind of a ***** move to pout and let that affect your game.

Also, how long is an NFL career really? I mean people have to do much worse for much longer. I don't have much sympathy for him on this. And what about loyalty? At least through the length of the contract that changed life for you and your family. I would expect a guy to show some fight at least for the org paying him and the players that are depending on him, even if coaching and QBs are shit.

i liked alshon, and understand if he didnt really care for the city. but theres really no reason to go out of his way to insult chicago now. and he should probably be a little more appreciate of the bears giving him his start. that mindset clearly didnt lend to pace wanting to keep him around.

anyway, he could have simply said something generic like "i had some good times in chicago but im an eagle now." which probably would have been the smart thing to do right before, you know, heading into a playoff game in chicago.

For the love of god, if anyone should be doubled its Ertz not Jeffery. Zach Ertz just set the single season league record for catches by a TE.

Must be a lot of short passes because two other TEs just finished with the top two single season yardage totals in league history.

I'm glad he said that but let this be a reminder to him that he needs to engage his brain before opening his mouth.

WRs in the NFL don't do that very often.

I don't care how you slice it, Ertz is the Eagles' most potent weapon against our defense. I'm not saying be afraid but I am saying that is their workhorse baller on offense. And he so happens to work the area of the field I believe to be the most susceptible to the pass. If I am Fangio then I am looking at taking away Ertz and Agholor as best as I can. They both figure to get a lot of inside work against us.

When I was in college at South Carolina, I discovered YouTube. I remembered how my dad had always talked about Walter Payton, so one day I pulled up some old highlights. I wanted to see for myself what Sweetness had been all about on the field. I wanted to see what my dad had been so hyped about.

And he was right.

Sweetness was the best I had ever seen.

I learned something unexpected about Walter Payton after the Bears drafted me. My goal was to go down as the greatest receiver in franchise history, so I looked into the Bears’ record books. I learned that Harlon Hill, who played back in the ’50s and ’60s, had the most receiving touchdowns (40). Johnny Morris, who played around the same time, the most receiving yards (5,059). And the guy with the most receptions (492) was….

Walter Payton.

I think that’s one of the reasons my dad loved Sweetness so much. He was ahead of his time — a dual-threat player who could do anything on the football field. He also had incredible work ethic, and that’s the kind of player that my dad wanted me to be.

I wanted to be the best receiver in Bears history, but even more than that, I wanted to bring a Super Bowl to the city of Chicago.

I didn’t accomplish either of those goals. But despite that, I can honestly say that I loved every minute of my time there.

But now I’m moving on to the next stage of my career. That’s why — as you might have heard — I’m signing with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Writing this is kind of a difficult thing to do. I mean, how do I tell the city of Chicago and the Bears organization how much I love and appreciate them? It’s hard to put into words. So I guess the only way I can really say it is….

Thank you.

Thank you for welcoming me with open arms.

Thank you to Lovie Smith and Phil Emery, who believed in my talents enough to draft me. It’s funny … thinking back to the 2012 combine, I should have believed the Bears when they told me that they were going to draft me. They just seemed so excited about it. When you get drafted, you can only hope to go to a team that is really excited to have you. I definitely found that.

Thank you to the guys in the Bears locker room for being the best teammates a player could ask for. From the guys like Peanut Tillman, Julius Peppers, Matt Forte and Devin Hester — who were already there when I was a rookie — to the guys I played with more recently, like Tracy Porter, Pernell McPhee, Marquess Wilson and Eddie Royal. I can’t name everybody here because there are just too many. But I have to thank you all, because without you guys, I wouldn’t be the player and the man I am today.

Thank you to B. Marshall. You were always hyping me up, letting people know that I had game, and praising me for my work on the field and my maturity off it. You had a big hand in both of those. I can honestly say that I learned from the best. I’ll see you again in the NFC East, big dawg.

Thank you to all my coaches and everybody else who came and went during my five years in Chicago. You all helped shape me in your own little ways, and I hope I was able to do the same for some of you.

But my biggest thank you has to go to the Bears’ fans.

I’ll never forget the first home game of my rookie season, running out of the tunnel at Soldier Field and a sold-out stadium going absolutely crazy. It was intense. There were times playing in that stadium when I felt like I was back in college because the atmosphere was so electric — and that’s saying a lot because I played in the SEC, and nobody in college football turns up like the SEC. But Bears fans could turn up right there with them.

Honestly, thank you for welcoming me, and for making me feel at home. Because of you, Chicago will always hold a special place in my heart.

MOVING ON

Kyle should have a couple picks if Alshon shows the same effort at Soldier Field he did during his tenure in Chicago.

Respectfully and imo, the real BIGGER issue is that Alshon is a WR we drafted, who turned out to be very good, who did not want to be here. I would still prefer that he wanted to be here. Him being a ***** now doesn't change his level of talent, I still think highly of his talent.

That’s not true. During the media blitz before the Super Bowl last season, Alshon basically admitted that the Bears didn’t even offer him a contract. He said he wanted to stay, but Pace didn’t want him.

He wouldn't like Philly if they drafted him either. Rabbit ears probably never forgot all the fat jokes and claims of laziness from when he was drafted. Would have heard the same there.

No way that's the case unless talks had shown the fair market offer would be useless to put on paper. It amounts to spin even if Alshon feels that Pace didn't want him 'enough'. Alshon took a 1 year deal because no one offered him the multi year deal he wanted. His market value on a multi year deal while missing a bunch over the past 2 years, was maybe $11.5m. If your agent says 'don't bother' that's not the same as Pace not wanting him. He took a one year deal for a reason.
