I'll never tire of this one.

this is what you look up on youtube? not surprising given your views on women. You and bearsmod1 should just get married... in a state where it's legal, of course. You can go to the gun range together every day and share guns.

sorry, disqualified from music. Speaking of, best of luck on finishing the album :D

It's ok there's nothing wrong with me because I don't like progressive music. Cheers! Jason Walton of Agalloch is mastering it.

Yes Ole...it's just you. Don't get me wrong, being brow beat by the same 6 or so tracks they play on the radio constantly has me liking Dark Side and The Wall less and less as time passes; but they have such a wide range of music it's virtually impossible that you can't find something you like that they've done. Their discography ranges all the way from 60's Beatles style stuff, to having a large hand in creating prog rock, some more traditional blues tracks, even English folk music for christ's sake (and the list could go on). If you despise those genres and the things they encompass then I don't know what to tell you. If not, I guarantee there's a fair amount of Floyd that you'd like if you gave it a chance.

Not to mention that Gilmour and Waters have always bee just solid as **** as song writers (still are now days).

Pink floyd is solid.. because they paved the way for Tool. Progressive rock? Try the masters of progressive metal.

It's been way too long since I've seen Tool live. They really need to finish that album they've been occasionally putzing with (for it seems like forever [since '07 or something?]) and start touring again.

Ok... Seems like you're taking a shot at the wall and darkside... I don't give a shit what radio plays... The wall is IMO the best album ever recorded.

No, I'm not at all. I just can't take much more of hearing a few of the tracks, that I tend to think are some of the weaker on those albums anyway, getting played constantly...I'm just sick of hearing those few tracks over and over when there's so much more from those albums worthy of airtime.

sorry... I'll take the kinks, who did it much better and less pompously.* Once again, taste

* Even David Gilmour admitted on the show I heard tonight that Floyd were gratingly pompous and "fatuous" during their lean years, when he wasn't feeling creatively inspired and they were just tweaking synthesizer knobs. He said it took them two years before they realized they could actually play music with the synthesizers and not just make noises. It showed, in my opinion.

I completely agree. The select songs(Money, ABITW2) have been heavily dosed into replay oblivion. You could name a lot of bands that face this problem with radio-station song selection. More so than Pink Floyd, I cringe when any flip-playlist runs Who Are You or Baba O'Riley. At least Floyd is ambient enough to slide in and out while slightly distracted.

I wonder if the philosopher kings in this thread ever consider music made after when they grew up as even an outside candidate.

You play, Crystallas?

Man, I'm of the younger generation too and Floyd influenced the shit out of my life and I don't even smoke weed.

Just say when I was down and out on the world in 2005, listening to The Wall brought me out of my funk and got me moving again.

Good for you, man. Whatever works. I don't judge another person on their musical tastes, and didn't expect to be judged that way myself when I started this thread. I was bored, it's the off-season, and I didn't expect the degree of vitriol shown here. It's like we're talking about Eric Clapton.
