first i was just gonna drive in from kalamazoo friday morning but i thought better of that when i remembered how much of a clusterfuck the convention was
BEFORE they won the cup. rounded up the wife and headed out to the city after work thursday.
woke up around 6 and got a coffee, nothing to eat. don't know what the **** i was thinking but this was a critical error. head to the rally point, got a decent spot.
little chit chat with people around me, everyone obviously is an OG fan and it was constant one-uping about who loved the hawks the longest. guy in his late 50's was self-professed expert on all things hawks. he showed his hand when he started the "let's go black hawks" chant later.
this guy wouldn't leave us alone, another expert who hadn't been to chicago since the trump building went up. obviously this guy knew everything. he even was telling my shit about where i live in michigan like it was news to me. toping it off, he smelled like ass. sorry if one of you is this guy. if you are him, you are annoying as ****.
after standing in the same spot for about 2.5 hours and having somebody's sweaty belly rubbing on my back, i began to feel like shit. no water and no breakfast was a total **** up on my part. there was of course no way to get out and get any kind of water without giving up the spot i held down for hours. luckily after offering to buy my neighbors half-dranken water off of her for $20 she just gave it to me. bailed me out until they started throwing water into the crowds. told my wife to just let me lay there if i passed out cause there was no way i was missing this parade.
shit finally starts and it was pretty sweet.
and this is why i was there. **** yes!!!!!!!!!!!
man i got all the t-shirts, pucks, license plate frames, keychains etc i could find like a total dork. how often does this come around?
hopefully a few more times.
