John Shoop being mentioned, that don't bother me at all . Shoop when started here was learning on the job, and it was bad..

What a difference between Eberflus and Ben Johnson first presser. You can tell who is genuine and who bs artist..

It’s what he said after Shoop that stood out to me. Something like make the different things look the same. It’s a simple concept but our dumb OCs never set anything up. We will now.

There's a part of me wondering if Caleb, Rome, Cole, and DJ weren't just there for support but to immediately jump on the new coach and say let's get this party started in terms of designing a new playbook. 🤣
Let's see what Jake says about this

I can’t wait until our elite barber gets to work on Ben’s fade.
All jokes aside That's what Matt Eberflus was - All style and no substance. And even that style was borrowed for his last year.

Ben just feels like nothing but substance

There's not going to be anything in a coach's intro press conference that we all haven't heard a billion times from other incoming coaches.

Glad he's doing it well, and I appreciate those commenting on the press conference with their tidbits. But for me, it's all the same until I see it on the field.

For those of us worried about Poles I think it’s important to remember just how much the HC is involved in personnel decisions. Hopefully that leads to emphasis on more important stuff….. like OL and not LB.

I will again point to the press conference.

Ben kept talking about how the organization is going to be working with him rather than him being a cog in the organization.

This is something very different than what the Bears have done in the past.

Ben Johnson has full control of the football operation if the press conference is any indication, regardless of what's said publicly.

And I think you're exactly right, Poles is going to be shopping for the groceries Ben wants and I wouldn't be surprised then ultimately ends up with final say privately over personnel decisions.

BJ also kept mentioning how the Bears worried him when he faced us --- BECAUSE OF THE TALENT ON OUR DEFENSE. I was working/multi-tasking as I always do but I believe he also went as far as to say, quote, "we worried him more than any team in our division because of our talent". Not because of Caleb, like the media wanted to portray today. He also said that we drafted well and that this roster IS FULL OF TREMENDOUS TALENT.

I kept telling everybody on this board that it was the coaching.... that coaching was the problem and not the guys Ryan Poles assembled. Coaches have to get the most out of their guys. Our coaches were not doing that.

This was great to hear. Should be a fun season coming up!

Get ready for another DB, DB in the second round. Poles loves building from the outside-in, baby!!!

In all seriousness, maybe Poles feels the hotseat and makes some bolder moves than we're used to because he's desperate to save his job. Could be a win-win.

I don’t know when I had to sit and watch shaky nervous Eberflus beg for applause and explain his stupid acronym I knew we were screwed.

This guy BJ commands the room. Sounded like he could be the President of the United States up there.

His answers were very specific and not generic I liked that.

My favorite thing he said was that QB performance is indicative of W/L more than the TO battle now.

Flus would say something generic like everyone is going to try hard.

On the negative side he was def emotional and a bit nervous. He doesn’t have the IDAF vibe that Dan Campbell has.

He didn't sound like a dumbass middle manager getting an undeserved promotion because of an acronym so it's a step up on the last hire!

I don’t think Poles seat is hot at all. He just got the coach everyone was drooling over for three years. He will have some more runway now if I am reading the tea leaves correctly.

Well good. He should take a vacation down to the Gulf of America and then get to work.

We'd have to be a total disaster this year... I can't see him being in trouble. And honestly, Ben seems like he's going to be very invested in personnel and will just add more talent to decision making that should hopefully mean the team is better... keeping all people safe.
