My Applebees in Joliet is great. Awesome service. Above average burgers. Nice desserts.

Is there a good one in Joliet? The one I have been to about 10 times in the last 6 years is the one off Jefferson by Walmart, and it's always bad. But if there is a good one in the area, I'll sway my Applebees friends to go in that direction instead when they insist we eat there.

I know location can make a huge difference. Theres like 5 Chilis that we'll frequent, and the one off Boughton in Bolingbrook has given us a lot of trouble(bad food prep, weak service, and the tables are sticky most of the time). If I only judged Chilis off that one place, I would really dislike the whole brand, but thankfully Chili's is still a safe choice and the one off Weber is as close to perfect, as a chain place can get.

Oh, and brett, since you roam similar areas. Ever go to Cheddars off 53 ? I swear that place gets no love. Prices are great, menu is solid, food is always good, environment is nice as well. Not the greatest in the world of course, but you wont go wrong taking a group there.

I forgot about that one. The one I go to is on rte 30 and I-55 across fro the Mall. The service there is incredible. I can;t really remember when we paid for a kids meal there (They've given us half a dozen free meals, two free shakes a month without an additional purchase, free certificates from the Library on Black Rd.).

Cheddar's is awesome. I love the outside of the place, looks amazing. I love the fire tower just outside. The fans inside are so cool. Love to have a home that could have that installed. The dessert is great too. The atmosphere is wonderful, not really meant for kids. Step up from the Applebees and Chili's and a step down from a Sullivan's. I've gotten a few things there but don't really remember what. Food for me was a 3/5 but the place overall I would rate a 4.5/5 A place I really enjoy taking my wife to.

Crys,
Have you been to Clara's in Woodridge? They moved two blocks north remodeling and taking over the former Krispy Kreme. One fo the very best Italian places I have ever been to.

Is Thai House in Bloomington? I'll have to check it out next time I'm in town. Did you escape the tornadoes yesterday?

We go to this one Italian chain down here...Carrabbas. They have some decent Italian food considering there arent any mom and pop Italian places worth a damn here.. I'd recommend Carrabbas to anyone. At least this particular one. The sausage/lentl soup is outstanding as is the rigatoni martino

Carrabbas is pretty awesome for a chain place (owned by Bloomin Brands, same parent as Outback). I'm a big fan of their Chicken Marsala. Or if I want to go all in and eat like a fat ass, the Chicken Trio is the shit. The bread and fresh herbs they give you is pretty good too.

Yes and it's an awesome family owned restaurant, it's just fresh well prepared food.

Here is the menu http://thaihouserestaurants.com/

Lot's of trees were down in the neighborhood but my property is fine, I will probably get up on the roof this afternoon though. A very good friend of mine in Washington had his house leveled. The good news is they just finished building it and hadn't moved into it yet. They were going to move in next week. Thank God they weren't in it and they are insured.

Outback here is actually a pretty decent chain restaurant. That's about the only chain food I will eat besides Burger/Sub places.

Will definitely check that place out. Love Thai.

My parents were visiting and had to fly back. They are out in Eureka, all good there though. Sounds like Washington got nailed. Heard from a friend that the Georgetown apartments are gone. Still have some friends in Washington, hope everyone is ok.

Yes, the Red Cross has a big presence in Washington right now, it's a mess. Washington is such a nice town, so everyone is helping each other out.

Anyone else find the food at Cheesecake factory very underwhelming?

I have gone to the one in Oak Brook with my family 3-4 times and went to the new one in Orland Square Mall 1 time and I always find their food to be just alright.

Maybe I am not getting the right stuff from their menu.... Cheesecake it usually pretty good.

I always go pasta there cause they have so much of it I figure some of their pasta must be good, but its always just average to me.

Anyone have that experience with Cheesecake Factory?

Yeah I've never been impressed by their food. When I do go there, I usually just get a piece of the cheesecake to go and split an appetizer with a friend. The food is incredibly overpriced for how bland and unimpressive it is.

The Cajun Rib Eye is marinated for something like 36 hours. One of the greatest bites of food I have ever had in my life.

Applebee's used to be good. Their food portions have gotten smaller and their prices have gone up. I got sick the last two times we went to one.

Cheddar's awesome. We used to have one in Rockford but they closed for some unknown reason. I really miss that place.

I used to really like TGI Fridays.... those MacNCheese bite things were awesome, they got rid of them and I stopped going there.... I always got decent food at the TGI Fridays down in Champaign when we went there.

For me hated the one in Champaign, hated the one I hit up here in Chicago.
