No you don't, but "great" is an adjective that is overused. None of the Bulls were great. If you think Gordon was great...then you have watched a lot of bad basketball. He is good, never great. Leading a mediocre team in scoring does not mean you are great, nor does it mean you are the best player on the team (which I contend at times BG wasn't). Jordan was great, Scottie was great, hell you can say Rodman was great and get less of an argument...but none of those Bulls were great...

And you can't call someone great and then call him a "3rd option" on a great team...doesn't fit...

Great is defenitely overused, Ben was good, but Bulls fans lets move on, we're treating Ben like he is Pip or Mike, lets stop this madness

I don't really think you are entitled to make that arguement. You called a sixth man putting up 7.6 and 6.8 great.

Okay Einstein...Is Gordon great? You answer the question...

I said that Walton went to the hall of fame because of his collegiate career and his first four years in the league...why regurgitate old arguments...

probably because I am right in this case. Something that you would never admit.

Wow defensive are we? I was making a point, if Walton was great that year than many people are. I don't think BG is a great in the league but I think he is a great for the bull org. Obvioulsy not on the same level as MJ, Pip or Rodman. But the same way that guys like Walker, Sloan, BJ, Grant and Kukoc were.

BTW, I agree great is over used.

Not defensive...just making a point. BG is not a great player, never will be...at one time Walton was...

I am going to take this a step further. Better than Rodman! Yea I said it! Rodman was ridiculously 1 dimensional (much more so than Ben) and he was on a team that was so good, he didnt ever need to score. Imagine Ben Gordon on the 96-98 Bulls teams? We would of been unbeatable.

Third, BJ!?!?! BJ!?!?!?! I hope your not talking about BJ Armstrong. He is not a Bulls all-time great. I think if your talking all-time Bulls, here is my list:

1.) His airness
2.) Scottie
3.) Artis Gilmore
4.) Chet Walker
5.) Ben Gordon
6.) Jerry Sloan
7.) Bob Love
8.) Elton Brand
9.) Norm Van Lier

I agree that BG wasn't great but I disagree with the point you made. There are plenty of teams that have a 3rd option that is great. Great championship teams do. Look at the Rodman's, Worthy's, Allen's, Parish's and the great cletics teams that had like 5 hof's on each team.

All of those guys you named could have been the second guy and at times were. Allen was a franchise player, Worthy is top 50 and a finals mvp who was the second option on title teams in his prime. Rodman may be the greatest rebounder in league history and was the second guy on a contender and won defensive player of the year awards.

The guys you named are greats who could be looked at as franchise player/top guys on teams, and you might say "Worthy could win titles with a better player" but you wouldn't say he would be the third option based on his abilities. He was a top tier talent.

You don't say that about Magic, Kareem, or Worthy, you say that about Byron Scott.

They could have been but they weren't. Thats what it means to be a great team, to have a great player as your third.

Who was the third best player on....
Houston Rockets?
Shaq/Kobe Lakers?
Jordan's Bulls?
Pistons of this decade?
Last year's Lakers team?
Wade's Heat?

You need 2 great players, not three...two. And in some cases, 1 great and 1 very good...

Bob Love was a 3 time all star, twice all league and an all league defender...Jerry Sloan is considered one of the best defensive guards in the history of the game.

And Norm? You think Gordon was a better player than Van Lier? 3x all star....8 Times all league defensive player...8!

Gordon is a ball boy for these guys...

I'm surprised he is even that high, quite frankly, since you take every opportunity you can to tell us how much he sucked. WE GET YOUR POINT.

Love and Van Lier played in a different era when players were not as good overall. It's alot easier to make a all-star game when that is the case. Look at the stats Houston, Gordon was better. No one would ever admit it (especially not you), but BG was better.

I think that is the problem...you looked at the stats...NOBODY thinks Gordon is better than Sloan and Van Lier but you. That is how you judge relevance. There is no excuse for putting Gordon over Van Lier, Sloan and Love...none

I'm surprised he is even that high, quite frankly, since you take every opportunity you can to tell us how much he sucked. WE GET YOUR POINT.

And you take every opportunity to tell us how his leaving is comparable to watching your girl with another man. I can see that....if your girl is butt ugly! Gordon is not great, shouldn't be treated as if he was...

I saw my favorite baseball player of all time (Frank Thomas) leave, it made me sad...for about 15 seconds.

And you are right...he might not be in my top 10. Especially after next summer...

Ben Gordon was better than Bill Russell ; )

yeah....right!

I hate talking to you on these forums, you have tunnel vision and don't actually read my whole response and just repeat yourself. Where did I say you needed 3? I said the best of the best had 3, the only exception being the bulls. All the other teams you listed are considered among the worst championship teams except the bulls and shaq/kobe lakers. You can definitely get by with two all time greats.
