I'm a Chicagoan by birth and by upbringing. If the Bears move to the outer limits of not just the city but the metro area that's a huge blow to my connection with the franchise. I would probably switch allegiances to a second professional team should they actually play in the city, in the .00001% chance that were to happen.

The Networks will definitely stop using shots of the Lake, the Art Institute and other Chicago landmarks if the Bears move to Arlington Heights. They probably won't even show some waitress cutting into a deep dish pizza anymore.

They need bump shots for their in-and-outs. They show city landmarks for all of their games, whether that team plays in that city or not.

Foxborough is legit closer to Providence than it is to Boston, yet we still see the U.S.S. Constitution and the Boston Harbor and stuff like that.

People are making way too much out of the Bears potentially not being in Chicago proper, like it's unusual or weird or something.

I can't stress enough how not-unusual it would be.

There are people like you who will be so upset with the Bears for moving a short distance away that they will root for a team which is further away. Some of these fans will turn out to be season ticket holders.

In the blink of an eye, all of these upset fans who give up their season tickets will be replaced by fans who have been waiting decades for tickets.

It's like the die-hards who swear that they're done watching Bears games and are returning all their memorabilia, but are right back in front of the TV in their Walter jersey every Sunday at noon.

What's weird is you trying to minimize the Bears leaving one of the biggest tourist destinations in the US for Arlington Heights .There is no other team whose identity is tied to a city the way its tie to Chicago .

They are the New England Patriots


New England is a region comprising six states in the Northeastern United States: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

There is no city called New England so they can move anywhere in that region and still be good because its already a regional name with close ties to Boston .

San Francisco 49ers play in Santa Clara. Dallas Cowboys play in Arlington. The Bears can certainly move to Arlington Heights and still be the Chicago Bears. Anyone coming to a game and wanting to see the city wouldn't be doing it on gameday anyway. They could allocate a Friday/Saturday to exploring the city if they want and then the entirety of Sunday to gameday.
