Ott's name also came up in trade rumors in the lead-up to the 2011-12 trade deadline. LeBrun specified that the Stars are still content to keep him if no one meets their asking price. Ott had 39 points and 156 penalty minutes in 74 games last season.
Supposedly the Preds are close to re-signing
Hal Gill & Paul Gaustad.
At this point I was disappointed that we wouldn't even get a chnace at Suter.
At this point I was relieved.
The Colorado Avalanche announced today that the team has signed defenseman Shane O’Brien to a three-year contract through the 2014-15 season.
O’Brien, 28, appeared in 76 games for the Avalanche this past season, totaling 20 points (3g/17a) and 105 penalty minutes. His 17 assists tied a career high set in 2007-08 with Tampa Bay, while his 20 points were just one short of equaling his personal best (21 in 2007-08). O’Brien finished second on the Avalanche in penalty minutes, his fourth career 100-PIM season.
Darren Dreger reports that the Washington Capitals have selected former passing genius Adam Oates as their next head coach.
Oates most recent job was as an assistant for Peter DeBoer with the New Jersey Devils, where he got some credit for running New Jersey’s power play. It will be interesting to see if Oates’ background as an offensively gifted NHLer translates to a return to glory for the Capitals offense or if he tries to keep things going in Dale Hunter’s general direction.
Arron Ward has confirmed via Twitter that Adam Oates has been named the new Washington Capitals head coach.
Jets sign G Pavelec to five-year, $19.5 million deal
Five Years for a total of $19.5M, Pavelec was a RFA
James Mirtle @mirtle
Flames gave up Jordan Henry and a 5th round pick for Wideman's rights. Signed him to five-year deal for $5.25-mil a year.
^^^ Pretty ridiculous for Wideman.
The one thing Bowman definitely did well was lock up the core for a long period of time before the salary cap continued to increase and salaries became ridiculous.
No way should Wideman be earning $5.25mil but because of the increasing salary cap he is...Suter is loving it.

Far from newsbreaking, but, good possibility the Capitals trade Alex Semin's rights.
