Sharks would be getting killed in that deal. Love Clowe and Pavelski. Not a huge fan of Demers though.

He is young so there is plenty of time to develop. I'm just not a huge fan of his defensive game at all. He is a borderline liability at times from what I have seen. Obviously his offensive game doesn't need to be questioned as it is strong.

Staal rejects Pens offer

Jordan Staal has rejected a contract offer from the Pittsburgh Penguins, which multiple media outlets reported was for 10 years.

Staal’s agent confirmed to ESPN.com that his client has rejected an extension from the Penguins, but did not specify the terms.

“He is not prepared to enter into a contract extension at this time,” Paul Krepelka said Thursday.

Staal has one more year left on his current contract, with a $4 million cap hit, before entering unrestricted free agency in July 2013.

The Carolina Hurricanes, sources confirmed to ESPN.com, have already indicated to the Penguins they would be interested in trading for Staal. His older brother, Eric Staal, is the Hurricanes’ captain.
