Why would you trade him? When it comes time to play and if he doesn't, he won't be collecting a paycheck. My bet is he does suit up to play when those fines start coming.

This happens all the time with people that are tagged. Many sign very late in the process. He's after the best contract he can get and probably doesn't see the need to rush. Voluntary means voluntary. Why take a risk of injury that could hurt him financially over the long run?

Unless Pace gets all butt hurt over this, which is very possible, it will be a non-issue and pretty much SOP with the franchise tag but one never knows with Pace. He's not opposed to jettisoning (is that a word?) offensive talent.

If the Bears were going to trade him they should have made it a priority to get it done before this years draft, so they could use a pick to get his replacement. Alshon and White are exciting. White and Wilson are not.

I've agreed with most of the stuff Pace has done, if he gets rid of Alshon I will be supremely unhappy about it.

This is a prove it year for Alshon. Play like at #1 and stay healthy.. and you will get paid off.

I don't think there is as much animosity with the contract situation. Alshon wants top 5 money, Pace says stay healthy and we will pay you.

Why do I feel like I hear every fucking year that someone not attending voluntary workouts is a problem and might be traded and blah blah blah and then mandatory OTAs roll around and they attend and everything is fine again.

The only negative with Jeffery is his health.

If they think it will negatively impact his future and its not worth the gamble, then they should trade him. I would not be happy, but it is what it is.

Bears have plenty of money. I'm more worried about whether or not Cutty is going to have his hair styled properly in time for mimi-camp.

There was a lot of talk about Alshon not wanting to be in Chicago, being lonely with his BFF Marshall gone. If that's true, trade him, the guy seems fragile. My problem is Pace settles for shit deals, if he gets good value fine. I just don't trust Pace to not **** up a trade.

That said I hope the talk of Alshon not liking Chicago is overblown and he can play for the Bears for years.

Its that time of the year where idiots that don't pay attention read far too much into things that mean nothing. Alshon has trained with Brandon Marshall at Fitspeed in Florida since becoming a Bear. Nothing has changed here. Now if he doesn't show up for mandatory workouts then you have an actual story to report.

If he trades Alshon for pennies on the dollar, we should start a petition for him to resign.

I don't see the Bears trading him. If they were intent on it, they would have tried to do it after the draft.

At this point, Alshon is more of a sure thing than White is. Now, that may change this coming season, and if it does, AND if Alshon's camp is trying to pinch the Bears for every last penny and the 2 sides aren't able to come to a deal, then I could see these "not coming to work out with the team" things biting him in the ass.

I can envision the possibility that Alshon ends up "not a fit" in Fox's plans long term, and they part ways after this season. Again, entirely depending on whether or not they can agree to a long term deal.

And one thing cannot be overstated - Kyle Long, who embodies the types of guys Fox wants, said on a twitch stream that "Kevin White is the best WR on the Chicago Bears". He says a guy who hasn't taken the field is better than Jeffrey. That says a lot, about both White and Jeffrey. It should be noted that White did whatever he could last year to be around the team, rehabbing and working out with them, and embracing the team culture. It may have ended up the worst thing for Alshon's career as a Bear that he ended up falling in with Brandon Marshall., as going to work out with Brandon apart from the team is where this all started.

Not saying any of this is what will happen...but I can see it happening a lot easier than some given the circumstances.

The thing with Alshon is, he hates Chicago. He doesn't like the cold weather and doesn't enjoy living there. It's not exactly a well kept secret.

To add to that, if Kevin White turns out to be remotely as elite as people are saying he appears to look, will they want to pay Jeffery #1 money next year anyway, especially if he fails to play a full season again. There's a decent chance they could end up letting him walk. So I can see the sense in trying to get something for him now, rather than paying him franchise money for what could turn out to be a one-year rental.

Well if that is Pace's line of thought then he is a complete dipshit for not trading Alshon when he got rid of Marshall. You know, when he was still under contract and could get real draft pick value out of him.
