Well this sucks. Havi will get a gig somewhere quick. Probably goes to Florida and leads them to a cup
Of all the theories put forward this seems to be most logical one. I could definitely see this being the line of thinking Bowman is using. In the end of the year presser, Bowman laid it all on Q's shoulders by saying it was "his staff."
Because of the rift, maybe Bowman is giving Q the rope to hang himself. Q picks his staff and if it fails, it's on him, period.
dunno but barry smith just being around makes me wonder what is going on in the front office.

Quenneville said Stan Bowman said there was dysfunction in his coaching staff. It was Quenneville's decision to make the change. #Blackhawks
Hard to believe Smith is inserted into that spot after Q's hissyfit on Bowman ordering Smith intrude during practices to improve the PP.
I'll imagine Smith will be going nowhere, though, as he's the Bowmans' back-up plan.
This is the thing that bugs me.
You can have issues with Q. You can have issues with Kitchen. Every coach gets scrutinized and they all have strengths and weaknesses. That's normal in pro sports.
But this whole 2 Bowman thing just stinks sooooo bad. And right above them is the president who is busy giving half hour interviews on tv and cutting commercials where he says people recognized him because he was holding the Stanley Cup. Yuck.
Like I said- you can rag on coaching decisions all you want. Every single fan base does that with every single coach. That's normal and Q certainly has faults that deserve to be addressed.
But the bullshit going on behind the scenes that has obviously and completely interfered with the on ice product (both reported and rumored)- that shit is on the management and that kind of stuff is much more unacceptable than just about any move a coach can make. It's completely unnecessary.
I'm not sure how you mean here. I agree with you're statement about Q, McD, and the off-ice complications, but you didn't really explain your issue with the Bowmans. I made it plural because Smith was Scotty's AC.

#Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said friendship with Mike Kitchen has nothing to do with decision to fire Mike Haviland and not Kitchen.
I live in Canada, and the radio talk has been going crazy with the Habs going hard after Q to coach Montreal
Having the old man come in and then having his kid get the big job after that. That's a little shitty, but whatever- the president wanted his own guys in place. That happens.
But now we've gotten 2 years of Stan and it's fair to wonder if he really knows how to put together a winning team. Add to that the apparent nature of Scotty clearly having some serious pull while remaining comfortably in the shadows (the Barry Smith practice mess) and it gets weirder. Does this team have 2 GMs? Can anyone override the 2 voices of the Bowmans when it comes to decisions?
It's not normal and I don't think it's healthy.
Whether it is healthy or not- we don't know for sure, but it opens the door for debate. That I don't like.
Gotcha. I don't disagree with much of your explanation. This past season was really Stan's first season to put together a team. That 2010-2011 team was so capfucked that I can't put a shit ton of blame on him for it considering close to half the team was disbanded and replaced with cheap rooks and retreads. This past season was a chance for him to somewhat cement his own stamp...and we all saw how that went.
As for who has some serious pull to override the Bowmans? I think Q has roared. Loudly. McD clearly has Q's back.

he said he's staying. hope his ass is canned if they start out slow next season.
