How many guys say "i'm staying" then leave for another job in the NHL?

probably a lot more than you think. its not like he had a presser announcing he is staying with the hawks. pro sports is filled with guys that say that shit. what do you think he is going to say? " im considering all my options " think joe

Just curious, do you like Q as head coach?

Actions speak way louder than words spoken to the press.

Like Iago said- someone high up (higher than Bowman) backed Quenneville today.

Ultimately, the fanbase will decide. Right now, Hawk's managment are driving BMWs.....with this economy, it wouldnt take much to put them back in Chevys. Another season with the arrow pointing down or just miss the playoffs once and see what happens. Hawk fans are not Cub fans, Hawk fans won't move the turnstyles for a bad team. Johnny Mac better wise up to that fact or he'll be gone just as quickly as he was added. These little in-house wars amoungst each other isnt getting it done. One or both of the Bowmans need to be shown the door....I dont give a **** which ....the Hawks dont need a father-son thing going on in personel. The ship needs to be righted...and soon.

Pulford, instead of Wirtz, may be the name you're looking for as that might be closer to an apples to apples comparison. I don't remember the Hawks having a president prior to McD - Rocky has proven himself to be far more open minded than Bill.

Edit: Not in the sense that Pulford was a business guy - he wasn't; but he was a hockey guy who Wirtz completely trusted and utilized him to fill just about every hockey brass position there was. He was Wirtz's right hand guy through and through.

The move yesterday should quiet the montreal talk and I'm sure that's no coincidence.

After reading and thinking about the whole situation, I think a few things...

- Q having the say on who goes is ultimately a good thing
- Despite that, I dont this is the last we'll hear of 'front office drama'
-All that really matters is the moves Bowman makes this summer.

Fix the roster holes and have a content coach running things his way... I think that's all we can ask for going into the season. Accomplish that and let the play on the ice finally do the talking.

Here is the thing...why are we all freaking out? I'll admit, when I heard the news I couldn't believe it...but why?

Do we really know if Kitchen or Haviland is a better coach? Both the PK and the PP didn't perform up to expectations last year. How do we know who is the better coach?

I think it comes down to likeability. Haviland is a charismatic guy when he talks (before the third period often) and Kitchen just seems like a creepy guy with no personality. After that, how do we know who is the better coach? I really can't point to anything that says that we, as fans, know who is the better coach or not.

I wish Haviland the best and I bet he catches on somewhere pretty quick as he was a final candidate for both WPG and NJ head coaching job last year.

The assistant coach isn't going to make or break this team next year...it really shouldn't affect it honestly. Stan has some holes to fill and he is going to need to do it through a combination of trades, free agency, and maybe a call up.

you're right.

the initial freak out came from the surprise of the move. taking a little while tk think it over, its not a huge deal. both guys had their fingerprints on the terrible special teams. q got to call the shot and he kept his guy.

not really that shocking.

Yeah, that's a really well done piece.

Never really got the hate for Rogers that I've heard. His old post game show during the dark years were absolutely hysterical.
