Mayfield was either deadly accurate or damn lucky on most of those throws. This is why it takes time and a larger body of work to determine a QB's value and progress. It was fun to watch, but let's not crown his ass just yet.

It wasn't accuracy on a lot of them, Aikman said so himself. His receivers just made plays.

Personally, and I'll be glad to eat my crow if I am wrong, I think Baker is going to struggle some going forward.

Anyone who watched that game last night saw the NYJ defense came in and they were set on coming after Tyrod. They stuck to their gameplan even after Tyrod left and it opened the secondary up a bit for Baker. From what I saw last night, Baker has a tendency to be a gunslinger. He made some bad throws that worked out but I can foresee defenses mixing up their coverages going forward and trying to bait the gunslinger into some of those throws he made last night. He'll have to do better than that long pass to Jarvis that ended up on his inside shoulder or crossing route where the ball ended up on his back shoulder or the out route where Callaway nearly blew out his back trying to make the catch. His receivers made plays but Baker will need to show better accuracy and likely better read progression and decision making especially as the windows get tighter.

Last night was the perfect storm for him to come in and make some plays however and he did.

For what I saw he looked good considering he wasn't practiced to be the starter.
If he's the starter from here on it probably isn't going to get any easier, that was a good game for him to come in.

Of course he is. He's going to have lots of ups and downs, I'm sure. Just like most young QBs go through. The important part is that he learns from his mistakes and limits them going forward. He looked the part last night, though. I hope he ends up being good. I like watching the Browns.

And I can guarantee you, there are Browns fans on the Browns forums right now going, "He can't even throw a fuckin' TOUCHDOWN??? What a fuckin' BUST!"

Here's the issue, and why it will continue to be brought up, these other guys look comfortable in the pocket, Trubisky does not. That's pretty concerning. Mayfield looked calm at the end, Trubisky hasn't. The problems Trubisky is having are things that aren't really teachable, which makes it concerning. Until it clicks, and even after, he's going to be compared to everyone else.

Comparing QB's is foolish? I think it's fun and interesting, I also think every team in the NFL does it. Every NFL fan loves to compare and evaluate players, except for a tiny group of hypersensitive weirdos that are fans of one QB, they really hate it.

I think the fools are the guys freaking out when their favorite does not compare favorably.

For example Trubisky sold the play the Browns tried to score on, the shovel pass while Baker didn't look so good doing so he telegraphed it imo. I think the bears starting trubisky last year was the worst decision they made.

Sorry, can't agree. Trubisky needed and still needs experience in every way shape or form it comes. He needed to play.

Compare away. Love it if you wish. But it's still foolish and has absolutely no basis in reality. Each situation has a million different variables...

LOL, no. It'd be foolish if the Bears had no other option but Trubisky. They had other options and made the pick they thought was best. The fact that he looks to be behind the rest while having the most professional playing time is why he's being compared. I know this upsets you for some weird reason, but it's the reality of the situation. The others will no doubt struggle, but have done more than flash a couple plays sporadically throughout the game.

You should let the NFL talent evaluators know that they are fools, also the fan base for every other team. You guys are so creepy.

If you can't handle player or team comparisons you should avoid the internet and all other media, because it is the entire point of being a fan. Basically stick your head in the sand, or where ever, until Mole-Eye turns things around or he is out of the league.

What does Aikman know.....pffft. This board would know better.

of course the board would know better.

whats most impressive about lass night.. be that baker aint be getting reps or limited fer weeks.. aint be working with the 1s much.. then comes in cold as a rookie in his first real game...down 14.... and goes 17-23 @ a 73% clip....wiff 3 drops.. n they werent 17 screens.. n leads them to victory..

baker shredded them... christ... mang..... if mitch came in a sliced up a d like that... ccs would loseseses they shits fer reals... n the media would be on his nuts

however, baker be a rookie and will more than likely have those rookie ups and down.. hit dat wall.... but at least he showed out..showed franchise potential.......he be got lucky on dat non int.. didnt see the defender.. cause he be short.. so he'll have to work on whatever he missed there...

id be more worried about ball security in duh pocket..i be saw him drop the ball twice on hits from behind, btlos..

There are types of fans....clueless ones who compare, and fans with brains who understand how the NFL works. If you want to be the type that buys into what the talking heads say...guys who are PAID to stir up carp (unlike those who do it on ccs for free)....more power to you.

I would include fantasy football people...but I dont consider them fans at all. I guess they could be considered absolutely clueless?

100% correct.

Patience is needed. Even young QBs that people thought were the next elite guys like Carr and Mariota have had massive regressions 3-4 years into their careers. We are seeing the start of one with Watson.

It appears that Trubisky is following the Goff model of a slow, ugly, painful climb, instead of a burst and then a regression.

I like what you said here, it is hopeful and positive....

What a strange question from a strange guy.

I tried to warn you to avoid all forms of media and fan discussion, they compare things. You must be a glutton for punishment.

Here's one last one for you before you go dark for the season: Compared to you BOB was eloquent.

You don't have to wait until he's gone, but it would be nice to wait until he actually does enough to show what he is.

Oh yes, love the morons who can't have their own thoughts. Hear something on CCS, shortly after hear the talking head story they got it from.

I would say the collected wisdom of former NFL players and coaches is more likely to be accurate than 20 crying Mole_Eye nut huggers on CCS.

And when the Mitch nuthuggers take a break from re-writing past history in a lame attempt to prop up their blah QB, here is an interesting tidbit....

It was Sam Darnolds 3rd NFL start in 11 days.
