No he isnt going to lose the edge as Leno is not trying to take the edge.

Let me ask you why do you think the play was designed to include Monty faking a run and in that screenshot did Trubs execute the fake?

The fake is to hold the inside linebacker to give AR more room to operate after the catch, and probably to help with timing.

None of which can happen because Trubs doesn't execute the fake. As to timing, if he actually made the fake then the DE holds for a split second and there is a better lane to throw the ball.

I don't think the play design is such that Trubs is just suppose to ignore the fake. He rushed the play. The DB in this angle has already started to break on the ball because Mitch ignores the fake and is already in his throwing motion. An actual run fake would freeze the DB and DE a split second hence why the play is designed with a fake included. Instead everyone knows where Trubs is going with the ball before ARob is even off the LoS.

That is ridiculous. A play fake would freeze the corner at 12 yards off the LOS?

He's coming up because Mitch is in his throwing motion. Why would the fake matter at that point anyway?

Also both the ILBs are still looking into the backfield in your image above.

I don't know what else to tell you. At least 5 posters have disagreed with you on this over 2 days. When you watch it in motion it's clear that 91 doesn't begin moving to his right until Trubisky has started his throwing motion.

SMH, he is coming up because Mitch skipped the fake. If instead of staring at Arob and being in his throwing motion, Trubs was looking at Monty and faking the handoff, the DB would pause like the DBs at the top of the screen are stopped. No one is going to break on a ball if the QB is carrying out a run fake and the WR hasn't even showed his route yet.

This play is simple, fake the run and then look and fire to Arob in one motion. Instead, from the moment of the snap, he is looking at Arob and starts his throwing motion immediately meaning the DB and DE know it's a pass and they react much sooner than the play is designed for them to react.

In short, Trubisky doesn't trust the play design. He is staring down a guy who he really has no reason to look at until he is ready to throw. It is a short and straightforward route, there is no need to check on the WR before throwing. And quite frankly he did this all night including the Int. He stares down and watches his guys thru the entire route making it quite easy for anyone to defend.

So your argument is that he wouldn't have come up if Mitch had executed a better fake, from his cornerback position 12 yards off the LoS, despite the fact that Mitch is already in his throwing motion? As though he's an inside linebacker waiting to see what hole is going to open up?

Just no chance that's accurate.

Not sure why you keep saying despite the fact Mitch is already in his throwing motion as that is my point. Mitch should not be in his throwing motion. At that point in time he should be faking the hand-off to Monty. So there would be no reason for the defender to already break on the ball if at that precise moment he is faking a hand off.

Mitch has thrown off the timing of the play because he rushed thru it and did not fake the handoff. So ARob hasn't even really begun his route and the DB is already closing on him, the DE already knows it is a pass and is moving away from Leno. None of those things happen if at that precise moment what the DB and DE see is a fake handoff. Instead what would happen is they pause for moment which allows ARob to get further in his route and create just enough space for the play to be completed. It is like you are contradicting yourself. You just said the fake hand-off is for timing but then seem to be saying the fact Mitch forgot to actually fake the handoff had no impact on the timing.

Are you aware of a lot of instances of DBs breaking on a route when a QB appears to be handing off for a run?

Gabs created 3.7 yards of separation and yet Mitch couldn't find him. That is more than the Baltimore WRs. The difference is Jackson had throws where he put the ball on the money whereas even when no pressured, Mitch was not hitting guys in stride. All Mitch seems capable of doing is underthrowing to the back shoulder.

1. A longer fake would have only meant that the CB would have broken on the route sooner to when ARob caught the ball.

2. If Mitch threw off teh timing , why was Rob waiting, wide open, to catch the ball?

3. ARob hasn't had time to begin his 4 yard stop route?

Among all the others things that we discussed about #91 yesterday.

The number is a little deceiving because of all of the cover 3 that the Packers were running.

His worse misses, as shocking as this was to me, was the plays he did not see Robinson.

You should just stop wasting time with Remy. He argues when he's proven wrong and it's happened multiple times.

1. Again what was the point of Monty trying to fake and Trubs ignoring him? An actual fake means the CB doesn't break on the ball until after ARob starts his break instead of doing so before.

2. ARob is not waiting to catch the ball. When Trubs is throwing ARob is just about to turn and look for the ball.

3. Yes it is a 4 yard stop route which means you throw that pass once he has already stopped not when he is turning. It is not a route that requires that level of anticipation.

If Trubs was not suppose to fake a hand off to Monty then why was Monty simulating receiving the hand off? Do you really think Nagy designed a play where Monty is faking a hand off while Trubs is already throwing the ball?

When they build a statue of Rodgers the follow through hold on the know look hold bomb would be pretty epic.

Yes anything that make excuses for Trubs. SMH.

Gabs was open quite a bit but one read Mitch was throwing to the short guy. He was open deep on several routed where Mitch threw short to ARob and Shaheen instead. The ARob one was a possible 95 yard TD but One Read Mitch got rid of the ball despite zero pressure.

Can you give us a breakdown on all the throws Mitch missed to "Gabs."

Posts 82, 208, and 211 have screenshots of 3 of them. In meetings today but will see if I can go look for the others later today.

No, he's playing contain. This is all about fundamentals. If he thinks it's pass and tries to get a solid pass rush, that's a big gain no matter what. If he gets pressure, Mitch scrambles outside. If he doesn't, easy completion. If it's a run, Monty probably bounces it out for a gain. If he plays fundamental, which means keeping his outside shoulder outside of the tackles outside shoulder and watching the play develop the best outcome for that offensive play call based on the defense called is probably what you saw.

I really don't know why you think if he thinks it's a run he's gonna choose to give up the edge. It's assinine. He's not gonna move more in because his outside shoulder is inside the tackles and it's game over. He doesn't float right because he watches Mitch's eyes he does it to keep his position. Not to be repetitive, but if he does that, there's no play to be made. The only reason to do that would be if he thinks it's pass and he is going after the QB.

To understand the reality, ask yourself these questions:

If he gives up his outside shoulder and:

-its a pass what's the result
-its a run what's the result

If he maintains his positioning and:

- it's a pass what's the result
- it's a run what's the result

I think the answer comes down to good fundamentals.
You have to remind yourself here that remydat has shown time after time after time after time he has zero clue about football analysis. It's a lost cause. Just give it up. He has no idea what he's talking about and never will.

You can check around 6:20 of the vid for another case of Gabs being open and Trubs locking on to ARob.

From that video, the whole offense played just as bad as Trubisky. Even Robinson had a horrible drop that could have been a 20-30 yard gain.
