I don’t like the trick plays either, but everything else is great
Bro, I’ve been wrong before. If I’m wrong about him, and he comes in, and the bears win a shit tonne of games, I’ll take the L.

Only way that happens is if they draft offensive lineman that pan out and in FA.

There's no one better to bring in to work with Caleb Williams and put the offense in a position to succeed. The question is and always has been, is he a head coach or just a great coordinator/offensive mind?

I mean this kinda stuff needs to be tempered. Everyone thought the same shit about CW, that he was gonna light it up and be the god savior lol. It’s gonna take two years to turn this team around.

Two years from when? I thought this was year 4 already?

The unfortunate truth is that the average person isn’t that bright.

Two years from now, new coaches, new system, a whole new OL, new DL… I mean people here are acting like this team is close to competing lol. We have no trenches.

So yall tell me what’s up with the turnabout on Ben Johnson? Reading threads and now he is no longer coveted? I won’t pretend I’m a Johnson guy however that game wasn’t his fault, that was on Goff goffing the bed in big games like he usually does. Stop flip flopping so damn much

Commanders drafted second last year. The expectation is to compete next year. There's no rebuilding.

20 injuries on defense with 19 and 20 happening during the game but people are out on Johnson, who put up 500plus yds despite the defense playing like a wet paper bag?

Ummm, ok i guess?

Yeah, that's kind of where I am too now. Even before the massive push by the Raiders, I was looking beyond Johnson a bit just because there were some questions regarding whether Johnson really had the leadership to lead the full team vs being a genius OC.

McCarthy was not in my consideration, I had focused on Joe Brady or Monken if they didn't land Johnson. But there are seemingly a lot of breadcrumbs going to McCarthy right now.
While McCarthy has ample experience overseeing an entire team, he’s been relieved twice now due to underwhelming on field performances of said teams. I will live with it if it happens, but an MM hire underlines just how bad the head coaching has been with this organization, that the front office and many of its fans are not just ok with such a hire but even favor it!

If Johnson does settle out west, give me Monken or Brady, please, even if it’s a bit of a gamble. For cryin out loud, we can take a swing for the fences, too! You can’t score if you don’t shoot!

Watching the playoffs it’s really stark how much of these games are won in the trenches. We won’t see how good Caleb is or really start winning games until his o-line is sorted out. Of the 1-13 ranked o-lines in PFF, 11 teams made the playoffs.

Some sort of Halas-Landry hybrid could be coaching this team but if the o-line is still shit it wouldn’t matter.

Monken and Brady seem like they’d be pretty helpful, no?

If Ben doesn’t take this job, his best bet would be to stay in Detroit another season and wait for the next coaching cycle. Every other choice this year is a team with a mediocre or uncertain QB situation. Jaguars, maybe — if Lawrence isn’t a mental shell by now, plus it’s a cakewalk division. Raiders don’t have a guy, just the promise of a stopgap and some crappy options in the draft class. Next year openings might include NY Giants, Tampa Bay, San Fran, Miami, Pittsburgh, Cincy, and a better QB class.

I've been on the Ben Johnson wagon since Flus was fired. I still would love to see him here in Chicago. Nothing has changed in my mind. His offense still put up 31 points in the divisional round of the playoffs. 2 out of the 3 trick plays he ran worked perfectly and one was awful.

Do you prefer Freeman, McCarthy, or George?
