If drafting Daniels had meant we got the Commander's results this year including playing in a weaker division and a different coaching staff, then yes, choosing Daniels would be the better move. I don't believe that if you had Daniels on this Bears roster and under the coaching staff we had, we would be saying it was the obvious right choice. Bears did the typical Bears thing and chose what for the most part was the consensus best prospect at #1 and then put them into a system that was flawed and ultimately flopped. I think by mid-season next year, we'll know if Daniels was the better choice but at this point in time, I don't think you can confidently say Daniels was the better choice over Williams given the hypothetical of what he would've looked like in the same conditions that Williams just went through.
I'm also not sure Daniels would've made it through the season healthy behind the Bears oline this year. Daniels has shown a tendency to pull it down and run, which means taking some extra hits. It's a miracle Williams survived this year, but I do wonder if Daniels would've been so lucky.
