Bears made a mistake taking Williams over Daniels?

where the Bears screwed up is believing the hype that it was the best situation a rookie QB has been drafted into. They needed to do a lot more work to make that a reality.

Jayden would’ve saved Flus and Waldrons jobs.

The fact that this group suddenly and collectively believes that Jayden Daniels would have succeeded with Shane Waldron and Matt Eberflus really says it all about how fucking stupid Bears fans are.

Bears would have made a "mistake" with any quarterback. We can now confirm - the problem is not the player, it is the Bears themselves.

And that goes for Justin and Mitchell too! . . .

So you're comparing a QB who had an offensive coordinator and head coach who were so inept they were fired mid-season vs. a QB that has a coaching staff that has their team in the divisional round of the playoffs....and you're doing this after ONE season? A season in which Daniels threw for (checks notes) 27 more total yards, 5 more TDs (and 3 more INTs)? Is this real life? I know you're doing this to get clicks/views, but JFC, let things play out a bit.

This Bears organization is BROKEN. As others have said, they would have ruined Daniels, too.

People here forgot about Mac jones already? Jones had good rookie year, took patriots to playoffs, and then fell off face of the Earth.

One year does not make a QB career.

On a side note: So were the media & CCS'ers who were so sure Washington was offering 3 firsts for the #1 pick just full of shit?

If that trade had been made, is Washington trading 3 firsts to take the guy they ended up taking anyway? Or are they taking Williams?
Seems like Washington was going to pick Daniels either way, which is why the trade never happens.

I don't believe Poles turns down 3 1st and I know believe Washington trades 3 1sts to move up one spot.

I think 1 year is a little early. CJ stround looked other worldly his first season but came down to earth last season.

What I think is the worst think is that Poles had 3 drafts to prepare an offensive line for his QB and it was an utter failure.

Jayden aint better than Caleb. Yall need to chill...its almost as if there is more to a QB's career than year 1

He is better TODAY.

You are 100% correct about the rest.

We could have had the best quarterback of this class, along with a HAUL. The Bears screwed up.

Sure, could have, would have.

It's all hindsight and easy to say now quite obviously. Washington wanted Williams over Daniels. Chicago wanted Williams over Daniels. I'm curious which GM wanted Daniels over Williams on draft day if they had the #1 pick.

If Louis Riddick was a GM, would he have traded with Washington to pick for Daniels over Williams. He said Daniels was the best QB in the draft back then, that has weight but he's working for ESPN where hot takes are a commodity. Would he have made that trade if he was GM of a team?

Whomever would have made that trade as a GM would have made an incredible trade, getting Daniels and maybe the '25 1st round pick?

Sure, I wish Poles was that smart but it's hard to blame him when 99% of GMs make the same call he did.

Would have changed this franchise's direction.

Having said that, Eberflus is probably still the coach in '25 if Daniels is our QB.

Poles doesn't get a pass for Eberflus like he may get a pass for Daniels.

There are SO many Bears fans who will not admit how good a QB Daniels is no matter what. It'll take years of "Williams will be better than Daniels" and the like before they finally admit Daniels is a great QB.

It's funny at this point, the denial.

I get it. Missing out on Mahomes, Stroud, Daniels...it's almost too much to take. I get it. Still funny though.

So many people said Llamar wouldn't last in the NFL because he was so slight and could only run, but look at him now. The same is being said about Daniel's frame as well, but he's so much more of a natural thrower than Llamar was as a rookie. Daniels looks awfully similar to how Llamar is right now... which should be scary for the NFCE.

So funny how Bears fans will go parading around how players always get worse in their second year without acknowleding that Caleb Williams is a prime candidate to significantly worse in his second year.
