Always the revisionist history.

Williams was always going to be the #1 pick in that draft.

You need a qb and you have the #1 pick, that's who you pick. End of story.
But always remember that people were telling you Williams was overrated and not going to live up to the hype NOW, so that in 2 years when you try your “oh sure, eaaaaasy to say that now” you’ll remember that people were saying that then

Means diddly.

He was the #1 qb at the time of the draft.

Try as you might, you get no do-overs in history.

It is what it is.

It means Everything. Those wanting him instead of trading down have a bs opinion. Those calling it what it is NOW don’t have to listen to Caleb supporters cry about revisionist history

How do you figure. The Skins drafted Daniels No 2 and quite frankly may have decided going up to 1 wasnt worth it given they had Williams and Daniels graded closely.
Those two underlined words means that you’re guessing.

No team was taking jayden over caleb during this past draft.

Caleb was amazing in college since game 1 vs. Texas as a true freshman. Jayden took till year 5 to actually play well.

Jayden has been in big situations much more in his college career, and for many more games. Not a surprise he's further along.

Caleb still has superior arm talent, he makes throws only a few QB's in the NFL can make. His release is lightning quick, he has superior arm strength, and has crazy arm slots/off platform ability.

Both can be good, but I'd still take caleb because he has more upside.

Same.

And however disappointed someone reasonable could be about him this season, he had less than ideal OL, three OCs two HCs and none were really competent. Calling him a bust is just trolling or ignorant.

I totally agree with the last 2 posts but it wouldn't be the 1st time QB1 didn't end up that way. I'm still on board but Mahomes and Marino are as much a norm as they are an exception. Maye's starts with an M, LOL.

The bears made a mistake being the bears and not understanding anything about the offensive side of the team

I thought it was weird that Caleb was the no questions asked top QB prospect when Daniels played better last year. Caleb was a highlight reel his sophomore year when USC was superior to everyone they faced, but it was a different deal his junior year. Caleb was still really good, but the highlights weren't as plentiful. Daniels put up some nice numbers in an actual conference. But there was so much hype behind Caleb going in to the draft that the Bears kind of had to take him....it reminded me a bit of the Ryan Leaf hype.

You don't seem to understand.

It means nothing. Nada. Diddly. Squat.

History is just that. History.

Daniels was not rated higher than Williams at the time of the draft. That is a fact.

If Daniels were rated #1 back then and the bears ignored it and still drafted William (remember Pace and Mitch) then those people would have a better gripes.

But crying about it now means squat. It's done. Over. You can't go back and undo it.

Got it?

Simple answer is no. It wasn't a mistake. If Washington had the first pick they would have taken Williams as well.

There probably were a lot of fans in Buffalo after the 1983 and 1984 season upset overthe Bills took Jim Kelly instead of Dan Marino. t wasn't until 1987 or 88 that Kelly actually showed the potential that the Bills saw in 1983. Now we can debate whether, overall, Dan Marino was a better quarterback (I think he was, marginally) but Kelly took the Bills to four Superbowls.

We won't know which player really was the better pick for at least two or three more years. Williams took a beating this year and was standing at the end. Daniels has played very well but has also benefitted from better coaching and overall front line support and hasn't had his ass kicked week after week. It also helps that some luck has gone Washington's way. The Commoders have won seven games in the final drive of the game. That is awesome but you can't count on that year after year. The Bears fell short almost as many times. A few more hops one way or another and this team would have been 9-8. Washington was a better team, but much of that was due to good fortune, not necessarily much else.

Even if Caleb turns into a bust and Daniels ends up in the hall of fame it was not a mistake at the time, every team with the top pick and in need of a QB would have taken Williams. This is not Ryan Pace trading up to take unknown Trubisky over Mahomes.

Right now Daniels is clearly the better player, as time goes on we will see. We are stuck with Caleb, hopefully he learns how to avoid sacks and throw deep balls this offseason.

This 100%.

But so many bitter fans will never be able to accept that.
