Yea, no.

This is the most attractive destination. Very dynamic young qb with heaps of potential, a top market, and a lot of flexibility as far as roster going forward.

And the QB is a key piece of that equation lol.

Every team faces a cap situation with bloated contracts and aging stars. Rosters are turned over every year. Bears aren't in a great situation or terrible one, they're all workable problems a decent GM can fix.

The one thing that is usually constant with successful teams is a really good QB.

So yes, it really does boil down to what they think of Fields on the player personnel side.
If he actually did something it would matter, but he didn't.

Denver has a good roster and plenty of cap space and draft picks. If they had anything decent at QB they would be the obvious choice. Incredible that they didn't draft Fields. If they happen to get Rodgers, and they easily have the financial and draft resources to do so, I'd say they are a top 3 team on paper for sure.

Figuring out the qb position is a lot more difficult than we think.

I think the odds of them getting mitch are better than them getting Rodgers now. lol

Exactly. Not something you can likely flip quickly - toxic.
That's not really toxic, and it's more or less the case for at least half the teams looking for a GM. Only Denver has a low amount of holes, but they have no QB. A GM who can scout talent can turn that around in two years easy.

Raiders and Minny have solid rosters but low ceiling right now and both have QBs who cost a lot and are pretty average.

Do you think the Bears will be contenders then?

Goober it all depends on what the new GM and HC do.

There is plenty of cap and roster flexibility going forward if they so choose to utilize it.

Denver and LV are much more put together rosters, but anyone with a brane knows those teams don't have the potential to win shit in the next couple years unless rodgers somehow goes there.

A couple years is all you need in the nfl for a team to go from shit to good....or from good to shit. It's the beauty of the NFL, and the best example of the damage in your brane. You think in the moment, no GM or HC does that when looking for a new job because most teams they take on are not good.

Question is CAN they be a contender not WILL. The answer is they CAN. The next question is HOW. The answer is by hiring the right GM and Coach and go from there.

None of the challenges you brought up are insurmountable or even unique.
...35 years and counting.

  1. New York Mets
  1. New York Knicks
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. New York Rangers
  1. Syracuse Orange
I have the Broncos as the #1 roster of those teams and no other team is even close to as talented as they are but of course the QB position is their huge problem. I think they'll be high on R.Wilson's list and any other free agent QB especially A.Rodgers if he decides to leave.

What does that have to do with my comment? You don't think they CAN?
Probably not. By the time they get the offense functioning (which maybe never because Bears) the defense will fall off because of 30-something stars.

You actually think there's Bears fans on here that don't know how hard it is to find a QB??

I have no idea. There's no reason why they can't be by 2023, but it's far too early to tell.

I don't think GMs candidates will perceive their situation as toxic. Houston, that might be a different story.

Ok that's fine if that's what you believe. I'm sure there's plenty of GMs and Coaches who believe otherwise.
