I have the Broncos as the #1 roster of those teams and no other team is even close to as talented as they are but of course the QB position is their huge problem. I think they'll be high on R.Wilson's list and any other free agent QB especially A.Rodgers if he decides to leave.

If a legit nfl qb goes there they are an obvious choice.

If there is no plan there and they depend on a retread or a drafted qb, then I'm not sure how favorable that great roster is.

That roster has the potential not to be great in a couple years if the qb position isn't figured out. Just look at the bears.

Probably not. By the time they get the offense functioning (which maybe never because Bears) the defense will fall off because of 30-something stars.
There are two 30 something stars (one 30 and one 31 coming off a historic season)- and I think each will have some trade value if the new GM chooses that route at some point.

Also many EDGE players are good well into their mid-30s. It will not be an easy task but that's why they are hiring a new GM.

Ok that's fine if that's what you believe. I'm sure there's plenty of GMs and Coaches who believe otherwise.
Pace really effed this team's short term future. Any GM or coach knows you only get a few years for a quick turnaround and Pace blew 2 of those years away before the ink even dries on your contract.

I think the idea of just reporting to George is a plus. I have worked in an environment where there is an adjunct profession of opticianry that typically has an untrained supervisior in charge of that area, the best ones are the ones that understand they have no clue and let the trained staff run the operation, worst are the dipshit cowboys that come in and think they are going to change the whole environment, which never ends well.

George understanding he is "just a fan" would be a plus if I were thinking of taking the job, he wants nothing more than to sit back and do nothing, never having a clumsy presser again, next being see handing the Halas trophy to a mummified Virginia in a few years.

Uhh, yea you don't know how the NFL or the cap works.

The new GM can pretty much blow everything up if he wants to.

This isn't the nba, he isn't stuck with Shrek for 4 years because they decided to pay him

Evidently you don't know.

Then if you don't think they can, why even watch? Why be here, posting and engaging in Bears content?

The whole point of being a fan of a team is the belief that your team CAN improve, and CAN win it all. That's the POINT of being a fan, even if it requires the occasional suspension of disbelief (and on rare occasion, that suspension of disbelief is rewarded for the fan).

If you're not in it to be a fan, why even be here at all?

Because he doesn't enjoy bears football.

He enjoys bitching about it while we all call him a loser. It gets him off.

You've been entertained the last 3 years?

I have not.

Yea, I have somewhat. Shit, I even enjoyed the fun bad 2017 year with mitch as a rookie.

Thats why I spend my time(Which is valuable, btw) talking about it and watching it for three hours every sunday.

I really think you should take that break you talked about.

Find a new hobby. Stop thinking about the bears. Normal people don't keep doing things they don't enjoy.

Which is why I said you don't enjoy watching bears football. But you sure get off to people calling you out on this board. Never seen someone take to it like that. I'm sure there is something in the DSM-IV about that type of crazy.

Oh, there's a whole slew of people who get off on getting into fights and don't really care about Bears football. Most of them are on my ignore list.

You can always tell who it is too - they get real asshurt over the ignore feature. They'll rip, belittle, challenge, demean or do whatever they can to bait people to not ignore them and instead to continue to respond and feed them. Because they are here for that interaction, and not sports talk, and the only real "win" you get is by denying them that. Took me a damn long time to figure that out, but since I have (and made liberal use of the ignore feature), the quality of the board shot up 1000%.....

I don't take football as serious as you seem to think I do. I'm just realistic about what the Bears are...which isn't much better than the Lions or Jets.

It's really that simple.

The idea of reporting to George (with Teddy mouth breathing in the background) is enough to scare a lot of candidates away.

Shit meatball take.

The McCaskeys are no weirder than the Glaziers or Davis, no more out of touch than the Maras, no more angry and odd than Irsay or Kraft or Jones - most of the owners are a werid group with their own strange and off-putting quirks.

It's a special kind of stupid to think the McCaskeys have cornered the market on that....

Sounds about right, Going to have to eat shit sandwiches for 2 seasons to get out of cap and pick hell that Pace dragged the team into, but under the same token thats an opportunity to basically rebuild the entire team with your guys with very little carry over from previous regime. Its not for everyone but for those looking to make their own team instead of taking an existing core over the last hump, its a good opportunity.

A Smart GM and HC combo can maximize the offensive side of the ball even with the limitations next year and have the Bears in the playoffs.

Won't go far with the defense still broken, but still, it would be seen as tremendous progress.
