But my point is whether or not you want to call it a high 2nd rounder or a mid 2nd rounder you probably could have gotten a similar WR for less before or after this season.
I know. I was just fooling with you.

Who are these WR you speak of? And what are Bears chances they definitely could have gotten one?

I mean they are both solid #2 WR. Claypool has more upside.
This one was all on me.

I was thinking (idiot me) that you were using players' last names. In other words, I read that you were saying that Mooney was similar in talent to (Ja'Marr) Chase.

My bad. The only excuse I have is that I was sleepy at the time I read it.

Cooper is 28yo, cost $20M the next 2 seasons, and quit on his team so much so they dumped him for peanuts.
Parker will be 30 yo by seasons end and has only put up 800 yards once in 8 seasons.

Neither are a piece for either team moving forward and are among the oldest WR's in the NFL, not even remotely similar.
You didn’t ask me to evaluate their character or contract you asked me to find similar caliber players gotten for less.

Also the last time Parker played a full season was 2019 he had 1200 yards. If you pro rate his other per game averages for 2020 and 2021 to 16 games he beats 800 yards. Injury history not production is his highest red flag.

I’ll take younger claypool over coop and I’ll take claypool upside over Parker. To each his own though.
Agreed. I don’t love or hate the move it’s the timing that’s the biggest problem for me.

Poles talked about off ball LB's like smith not being a priority in the grand scheme of it all but theres no guarantee that morrow is back at MLB so if there is a guy there whos on the same level as other talents, he should also be in the mix.
Who cares if Morrow is back? You don't make your first-round decisions on whether a player like Morrow comes back or not.

Off-ball LBers should not be drafted in the early first round, so finding that replacement needs to be a much lower priority than 3Tech, DE, OT and WR which is where the 1st round pick should go.

I am more intrigued by that Weatherford guy than I am about Morrow at the moment.

Damn, that was one backhanded compliment there.

If you wanted to really compliment Dick, you should have not included him with the fuckheads with "the other fuckheads".
we're mad tight, bro

Comparable players: In what world is a oft injured 30 yr old #2/3 WR or 28yo $20M/yr malcontent comparable to a guy that is 24 yo, under contract for a total of $2.2M for the next season and a half and has projected as a #2 possible #1 guy comparable?
FFS, I gave you the 2 closest comps available, regardless of how they effected my argument, and they cost significantly more. That you can't accept that you are just talking out of your ass, that I can not help.

Is somebody really caping for Parker? The guy can’t stay healthy…rarely ever
WCBF thinks a nearly 30 yo ambulatory WR is a comp to Claypool in value.

If you only want to consider cost and not production you could have just drafted a WR in the 1st. Again both the receivers I named have comparable or better stats than Claypool.

You asked me to find similar caliber players not carbon copies with the same contract and age.

I don’t even hate the trade I hate how poles boxed himself into a corner.

Did he return punts? Returning kicks is infinitely easier than returning punts. Catching a punted ball, usually in traffic, is a tougher job. Add in the wind at Soldier Field and it's not an easy ask.
In KC I don't think so, that was Hardman's job. Still you could look at what Pringle does in practice though.

And what corner did he box himself into?

Feeling the need to overpay for a receiver.
Man. Get over it dude. It’s done. News flash, the Bears have another second round pick. They are trying to help our (hopefully) franchise QB and you are worried about one of two second rounders. If/ when Claypool doesn’t work out, come back and say I told you it was an overpay
