“There were some who said that was the one he wanted”

This was the actual quote. Bearlissimo paraphrased the first tweet. Makes a difference

Bears probably not firing flus after a 9 win season but if they did, they'd hire Leslie Frazier and the only happy person in Chicago would be @DaaBears

Exactly. The McCaskeys are never hiring some top coaching prospect.

Bill Cowher, Bruce Arians, Jim Harbaugh, Brian Daboll....the wishlist is always funny.

...you can always count in the Bears to hire a coach worse than the one before.

You would think Bears fans would learn. But the cycle of pounding the table and hoping for a top tier coach only to get leftovers is a tradition that must be honored

Yeah Johnson is a pipe dream. George will probably insist on hiring some LB coach no one has ever heard of. When was the last time this organization prioritized winning and football acumen and nailed the HC hire?

I have a feeling Ben Johnson is going to be the guy when we fire Matt.

Even better, @nc0gnet0 gets to suffer a slow death even as he's enjoying this season knowing in the back of his mind that his beloved OC is going to be the next Bears head coach 🤣

Will be pretty hilarious to see the lions completely fall off after Johnson gets a HC gig. Knee biter will be completely exposed as the most overrated coach in the league.

There's no tear coming.
Team have their ups and downs all the time. If the offense gets this figured out and the defense is still playing the way they are then you never know. It's about how you finish the season, not start it.

I know this isn't the popular thing to say. We lost when we shouldn't have so people need to act like they're all crazy and everything and everyone on or around the team is terrible.

You're an idiot sometimes.

I bet Ben Johnson was real worried about it when he was coaching (and winning) in the playoffs and Eberflus was watching from home yet again.

Think you missed the point.

1. If Ben Johnson beats Flus twice last year then Poles possiblly fires Flus. Seems likely Bears play down the stretch particularly beating the Lions played a role in his retention.

2. If he beats Flus twice this year and we are below .500 in the division then Poles possibly fires Flus. By contrast if Flus has a strong finish and finishes above .500 in division he probably keeps his job.

So my point was if Johnson wants the job then it is within his control to make it happen. He missed the opportunity last year but embarrass Flus this year and the job probably opens up.

Sometimes it is best to just ask someone to clarify something rather than jump to conclusions.

By the way folks, timing is everything.

The fact that Albert Breer said what he said now is not coincidence or just "oh hey I got a funny anecdote for you".

This is literally how agents of coaches will back-channel signal interest.

This is Ben Johnson's way or at least his agent's way of getting out there that Ben would have interest in the Bears if they were to fire Matt at the end of the season.

Things are getting interesting. 😁

Honestly that's why it's such a great move. You improve yourself and hurt one of your biggest competitors in the division.

That's fine. If they didn't give up the hail Mary, half of this board would be projecting 12 wins and a super bowl run
But they did give up the HM because their coaching staff eats glue and draws up plays in colored pencils. They botch games that they should win, they cant win on the road or beat playoff caliber teams. This is proven

Between Waldron questionable play calling, shocking bad oline, and a rookie qb it’s hard to guage the offense week to week. This far into season it’s safe to say defense is pretty damn good and consistent

Bingo. It’s honestly the biggest no brainer move of all time….which is why it won’t happen

AZ, NE, 2 division wins (because as much as everyone thinks they'll win 0, they probably luck into 2), and Seattle

AZ is 50/50 at best (we're 1.5 pt underdogs right now).

By the end of the year, the wheels could be fully off so the Seattle game and the 2 divisional games are far from locks.

Eberflus has ONE quality win in his 3 seasons (last year against Detroit). It would be a serious jump for him to get this team to 9 wins given the schedule ahead. Given the OL, I don't see it.
