By the way folks, timing is everything.

The fact that Albert Breer said what he said now is not coincidence or just "oh hey I got a funny anecdote for you".

This is literally how agents of coaches will back-channel signal interest.

This is Ben Johnson's way or at least his agent's way of getting out there that Ben would have interest in the Bears if they were to fire Matt at the end of the season.

Things are getting interesting. 😁

If this report is true then Poles probably already knows Johnson is interested. As an NFL GM he has other ways to get this info than Albret Breer.

You think Poles is sitting in his office saying "Gee I didnt know that."

Since a certain section of people think I'm the crazy conspiracy theorist guy anyway, I'm going to lean into this ***** with one for the offseason...

View attachment 33706

So, today we start with the rumor from a twitter dude named PodGuyFuges, who basically knows a guy who works up in Halas Hall, and got told Eberflus is as good as gone. He's not certain on it himself, but this guy assured him it is happening.

Then you have DJ Moore today coming out of his exit interview grinning like a Cheshire Cat. He is on the record both for fully wanting Justin Fields back, AND NOT wanting Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, or any other QB in the upcoming draft. Something coming out of that interview made him very happy, and he isn't talking what.

Then you have on the Score today, the mid day show with Bernstein and Holmes, Laurence positing the idea to Dan that the Bears keep Fields and somehow pick up Greg Roman as OC - but the way he did it, he sounded similar to DJ Moore, like he knows something more than he is letting on.

So here's my conspiracy theory - The Bears intend to keep Justin Fields and bring in Greg Roman, because they have an inside track to land Jim Harbaugh. They aren't going to fire Eberflus until they have the commitment from Jim because they know how tempermental he is, and Eberflus is the fallback guy, and they get Greg Roman either way.

But I think Harbaugh is heading here, and once they have a commitment from him, Eberflus gets launched.

After all, even if you think the inept McCaskeys are never going to pull that trigger, remember they want to sell the team once Ginny kicks the bucket. And with the city shouting "WE WANT FIELDS", Jim Harbaugh as your head coach, and you get Fields rolling in a Kapernick style offense AND a new stadium?

The Bears have a plan to sell the team for absolute top dollar.

There you go folks.

Break out the tin foil hats - martian beer is on me...

I have a feeling Ben Johnson is going to be the guy when we fire Matt.

Even better, @nc0gnet0 gets to suffer a slow death even as he's enjoying this season knowing in the back of his mind that his beloved OC is going to be the next Bears head coach 🤣

I wouldn't put anything past this ownership group. Chicago fans are notoriously fickle. If we figure things out from here and go on a tear to end the season, beating the teams from our division then people could easily forget about this and other perceived transgressions.
Do you really trust Flus in the NFCCG or SB? That would be like asking Cody Parker to hit a GW 43yd FG in the wildcard round.

Here's the thing, folks, there are back channel things going on if you read between the tea leaves and stand on business, the Bears are going to do something and it works like this, take it from me - chief systems engineer who makes 136k/year, and anyone who disagrees with me is pure EVIL and will be civil warred upon 😉 😀 😄 😜

@nc0gnet0 literally said there’s 0 chance Ben Johnson takes a job in the NFC north (if he even leaves ever) so basically this rumor is dead on arrival

I'm talking about making it far, not necessarily winning it all.

LMAO, because MJY has such a good track record of being right?

Now, to clarify things:

I do expect Ben Johnson to be gone next year. I really expected him to be gone this year. That being said, another year gives an understudy more time to learn the nuances of his offense, and I am sure Detroit will promote from within.

As far as Chicago goes?

Ha! the McCheapski's would never pay him. Hell, the Lions might match the McCheapski's offer just to retain him at OC. Firing Everpussy puts Poles on the hot seat. Hell, if the rumors are true, he should be on the hot seat now for retaining Everpussy. Nobody wants to take their first HC gig with a lame duck GM. If the Bears were a smart franchise, they would have fired both Poles and Everpussy, or at least Everpussy prior to drafting a QB. But noooo, not the Bears.

In all likelihood, the Bears are just good enough 8-9 to 10-7 to give Everpussy "one more year". You know it's true. You can all feel it in your hearts.
Then, Rinse/repeat. The Bears way.

And in the event the rumor was true, the Bears no longer will have the number 1 overall pick, thus making them less desirable for a new HC to get "his guy".

"There were some people who thought that was the one he wanted."

Doesn't exactly sound earth-shattering or iron-clad.

Last time we were ACTUALLY in a coaching search...you thought:

1. The Bears were in a new era looking for a "football czar." There was to be a HUGE restructuring of the organization that us plebs couldn't understand because we didn't RESEARCH it enough like you did.

2. Harbaugh was coming to the Bears. (Ten minute phone call with George - no.)

3. Brian Dalboll certainly wanted to work with Justin Fields. Top coaching candidates would decline other offers to cement their legacy with Justin. 🤣

4. Ryan Day was leaving OSU to reunite with Justin Fields - what a feel good STORY!

One thing the mental midgets of CCS can't grasp....................

Just because a guy is a great OC (and Ben Johnson is) does not make him a great HC.

Will be pretty hilarious to see the lions completely fall off after Johnson gets a HC gig. Knee biter will be completely exposed as the most overrated coach in the league.
Lmao.

Go watch the Lions play the hail mary attempt in the Minny game.
The go watch the Everpussy Bears defend it.

Get back to me and tell me which team was more prepared.

I wonder who the best options will be for DC if they do move on from Flus. The defense has definitely been formidable this year and end of last (we of course need to see that play out against top talent in the back half of the schedule), so I assume they'd want to keep a similar scheme and system in place given the talent built around it.

Not sure what this has to do with anything I said. Every team in the league would play the Hail Mary better than the Bears did. Knee biter and the lions are still going to stumble once Johnson takes a HC job. Goff especially

You don’t expect me or anyone besides MJY to actually read any of this right?

IS he bringing the lions OL?

Cause we'd have a lot of the same issues on offense without that OL

BJ is a run first coach, we cant run the ball with this OL on a regular basis outside of a few chunk plays from swift.

It would still look bad, prob not as bad as this, but you'd also expect the defense to have taken a bit of a fall too without flus.

Overall team would still be about the same record. Will he be a better HC than flus? Sure, but thats not saying much.
