The first thing Ben Johnson should do is cut Tyrique Stevenson. Trade for him if you can, but even if you can’t, one way or another, find a way to get rid of him, immediately.

I know what you’re thinking. Wait a minute, he’s good!

I agree, I actually think he’s great,…at times. But the problem is, he’s got a bad attitude, and those things spread, like a stomach bug on a cruise ship.

You want to fix the culture? Save the cliched speeches. Take a bold action that shows this is how we do things now. This is the standard. This is what will, and will not, be tolerated.

Yes, it’s difficult. But that’s exactly why this action will have impact. If he wasn’t any good, nobody would notice, or care.

And make no mistake, this team’s biggest problem is culture. Even before the season was lost they were playing at half speed for the first three quarters of every game. That’s purely culture and attitude.

Did you watch the playoffs? Do you see the way those guys are flying around? The urgency and effort? I know it’s playoff football, and that kicks it up a notch. But you could kick it down 10 notches and you still wouldn’t have Bears football. It looks like a different sport.

I can’t stress enough the importance of doing this asap, before you get to know him, and like him, and appreciate all his upside, and the context of all his actions. Blah, blah blah. Do it now. That single action will make everyone else on the roster 10% more alert, more focused, more energized, and better.

No. Ben just needs to sit down and talk with him, express his concern over the BS he did, and then tell him they can work together , but to get his head on straight. He's too talented to just eject.

BJ needs to have chats with players who seem to have attitudes. Above average CBs are tough to come by and he's still on his first contract. The Hail Mary Fail really seemed to set him back as I am sure he took a beating for it watching back tape. I'm in the camp of giving him a fresh start in '25 and seeing how it plays out.

To be fair, he's been an accident waiting to happen but if he respects his coaches enough the issue will be minimized to point of him remain an asset. You want players with an edge, you just need to be able to hone them.

You don't cut him, but you put together a greatest hits collection of him playing professional football with the discipline of a twelve year old and play it just for him, Allen and his position coach.

Then when it's done, you tell him if you so much as show me a hint of that player...you will be on water bottle duty for the rest of 2025.

He doesn't even know the guy and should cut him? That would be really great leadership...

He feels like the biggest scapegoat of all time since the hail mary

While Tyrique did himself no favors with distracting himself and then not covering the tap receiver in the back, the whole situation would have been moot if Flus called an actual defensive play on the play prior which gave Wash an easy/quick 15 yards to even have a chance at the hail mary.

Yes. And then show him tape of all of his great plays. Tell him you have the potential to be great. Stop putting all the obstacles to that happening up yourself.

No reason to cut Tyrique. He fulfills the McCaskey moral obligation of not having committed double homicide per remydat.

Seriously, since they kept Tyrique this long there is no point in cutting him now. You cut him to make a statement/enforce discipline at the time of the transgression. Maybe he can learn from his mistake and be laser focused this year.

No way in hell. Tyrique is a PRESS/MAN CB who Eberflus tried to turn into COVER 2 zone CB.

Dennis Allen is going to implement a downhill attacking 4-3 defensive scheme. You're going to need at least one PRESS/MAN CB that can hold his own with no help from the SAFETIES.

The Bears DBs are going to have to play more MAN coverage under this DC. Tyrique Stevenson is a perfect fit for that.
