Filled in and edited a few players, and gave some players some due.

Very good list, much better than the original list that you edited. Nice job!

I got a box set of all the 84-85 Bears games including the super bowl from Amazon last year. It is pretty awesome.

I think you have to put Atkins and Dent in the list.

I meant Atkins and Hampton. Dan was pretty much unstoppable at end or tackle. I'm not exactly young, but I have no memories of Atkins. The guy was fearsome, though - dominant is the right word.

I wouldn't dream of taking Hampton over Dent. Dent was the one that was unstoppable. IMO both were great/good, but between Dent/Hampton to me it's not even close, in Dents favor.

Jay Hilgenberg's 7x PB, 7X AllPro, and SB champion trumps Olin's 6X PB, 4xAllPro at center. It's a shame he isn't in the HOF.

Oh, and a lifetime Bear!!

Hampton played both DT and DE and I believe went to the Pro Bowl from each position. Dent had a reputation for taking plays off, Hampton never did. Both are great HOF players, but I'd give the nod to Hampton for his all-around game. If I just needed someone to come in and pass rush on 3rd down, though, I'd go Dent.

A defensive line without our best defensive lineman of all time is a travesty. I'm assuming Dan Hampton is injured?
Plus Peppers has only 3 yrs and 30.5 of his 111.5 sacks as a Bear, so no way he is a better BEAR than Hampton.

Good Lord that '85 offensive line had some monsters on it.

Aside from Kreutz I'd also add in Big Cat Williams as an HM. He had a very good career for the Bears, but I don't think I'd put him over Covert or Van Horne.

Also would throw pre-injury Tommie Harris into the DT discussion, because he was an absolute force in the middle of that defense.

Good mention on Big Cat. Met him at the KMart in Platteville in 2001.

Agree 100% with the bolded.

Curtis Conway and Jeff Graham certainly rank among the top wr duos. And Conway is married to the daughter of Muhammad Ali so you know he's the greatest.

Oh no no no. You cannot use a stat sheet to measure the value of defensive linemen, especially those who played tackle as Hamp did much of his career. The penetration and disruption that he caused was the engine of the 46 defense. To this day he's the best lineman we've had.

You don't get Dents career production, which again dwarfs Hamptons, by taking "plays off". Where did you here these rumors from? I watched him his whole career in Chicago, I don't remember taking plays off.

You can't? You suddenly don't like stats because they don't fit your agenda? Amazing. Mongo was the middle engine of the 46 defensive line & never got the credit for it he should have.

McMichael was mostly unsung. If he'd played most of his career elsewhere he'd be in the discussion, but he played for the Bears and choosing an all time Bears team isn't very easy. I loved Mongo, he was the definition of tenacious and was great next to Hampton. He's not first team Bears though.
