Bickell is good, but I think it's a bit of the contract year thing too. He's shown flashes of playing like this but never consistently.

I'd re-sign him but not for too much. Do not want a Bolland situation once again.

Its funny, everyone has their favorites. Bolland has a knack for big goals, I just prefer Bickell and the effort of Frolic or Saad. We have so many great players, the good ones look blah and take the blame.

Hell, Keith getting beat down the ice after a turnover he usually doesn't cause is probably our biggest weakness, and thats just age and physical build. The Avalanche and Blue Jackets showed what up and down speed can do to us.

I'm just in awe of this team and their grit, they won the presidents trophy without the offense of Pittsburgh. We keep scores low and score big goals, its amazing.

Everything has come to fruition.

Now we just need one more to show the league once again the Hawks are hard to kill.

well I think Stalberg had something like 6 shots on goal last night and looked really good... Bickell did really well also... both of them deserve a contract next year if you ask me... Stalberg had a really good first period... and put the puck right where it need to be... Howard just played a phenomenal game...

The problem with Stalberg is that he was majorly underpaid during this last contract. May ask for a lot for this one because of that. But I don't know.

They are both good players that don't have a huge cap hit right now, but because of production the past couple years I'm afraid they'll want too much. Just my opinion. Depth would be much worse without them though.

I am not worried too much about depth... Bowman seems to be finding some very solid talent in the draft... Saad For example should be better next year... Perri will be moving up to the third line next year most likely... we are going to bring in the guy we signed at the end of the season who had a really good game... cant remember his name... but he looked good... I believe he earned the WWE belt for his performance... but was ineligible for the playoffs this year because he was a late signing...

Not sure who you're talking about...

I wouldn't want to lose Bickell because hard hitters on the Hawks are hard to come by. But I also don't want Bowman to overpay. So I wouldn't care very much if he left for that reason.

He is, but I believe he only signed a (pro-rated) one year deal, so he'll have to be re-signed in order for him to be on the club next year.

Ah. Yes. That makes sense.

Anyone else think Bickell is playing his final games in a Hawks uni with his playoff performance?

A few desperate teams will overpay him.

Couldn't agree more. Good for him, hope he continues to perform like this though out the Hawk's play off run.

We can't keep letting the hitters walk and signing the one dimensional skill players. Bickell must be paid, his advanced stats and shot percentages are off the charts, and always have been. This streak was almost predictable.

Crediting Kane with Bickell's second goal yesterday is almost just a mercy call, that ball was in the back of the net whether kane tapped it at the last moment or not.

He's a big physical forward that also doesnt hurt you on either end of the ice. That's something thats in short supply. I think they'll find a way to keep him. There is a rather lengthy list of current Hawks that will be gone though. Im guessing Kruger, Bickell and Leddy will be the players they will try to keep. That leaves Handzus, Rozsival, Stalberg, Mayers, Emery and some assorted Icehogs to be moving on....with the gawdawful Montador contract hanging in limbo somewhere.

Am I missing anyone? What a mess. Let's hope they can win it now and worry about tomorrow........tomorrow.

He's doing a lot for us right now, at the right time. Contract year or not, he's worth bringing back. Now if he wants to get overpaid to all hell, then buh-bye. But if we win the cup, and he continues to be a contributing factor, how can you not reward the guy?

you dont pay him period. his stock is way too high. smart money is spent on young cheaper potential, not what you did in a sample size of a career. he is doing great but I will still take him to the airport.

Yeah even as a relatively new and "casual" fan he's been so invisible so long throughout his career.

Is there a way they could sign and trade Bickell?
