He's doing a lot for us right now, at the right time. Contract year or not, he's worth bringing back. Now if he wants to get overpaid to all hell, then buh-bye. But if we win the cup, and he continues to be a contributing factor, how can you not reward the guy?

While I'd be a fan of bringing Bickell back at a reasonable cap hit, the fact of free agency means that he's going to get silly amount of money thrown at him which will put him out of the Hawks price range.

He is a good NHL player if he is putting up those kinds of numbers, regardless of motivation it shows that the talent is there, as long as he can find a way to stay that "motivated" after landing big $

Its always a crap shoot when players get the big money. But every game Bickell is reminding me more & more of Al Secord....if he ever develops a mean streak like Secord had....look out. I think the Hawks will recognize that as well and Bickell will become one of the team's core players. It'll cost them but it could cost them more if they don't.

If you could move Bolland, id pay Bicks his range of pay but it's back to a pondering if you want to be in another right year.

We will see. If the Hawks win the Cup, I don't see him coming back. The cap situation isn't as bad as 2010 but when you win a Cup the value of each of your guys goes up so there will be a little bit of turnover again as there is every year. I think Bickell will sign elsewhere based on his playoff performance

Stalberg is a goner. I know it tears fisch & the fan club up inside. :troll:

:deer:

You gotta love his raw talent but he's getting to age, hell...he's probably AT the age where you kinda know what he is now, is what he's always gonna be. The fact that he doesnt score in playoffs isnt gonna help his case either.

Especially considering Q benched him for Carbomb, Stalberg is a goner. I'd love to keep him around just to :hawkstroll:, but his speed can be replaced by a guy who finishes at the net once in awhile.

Stalberg had a wide open net on a loose puck with Quick hugging the far post from about 20 feet and slapped more ice than puck. Total biff shot, when 9 of 10 players in NHL at least rip that toward the net and with 3/4 of the goal showing somebody probably has to stick it out of the air unless Quick makes a miracle recovery.

I'm over Stalberg but if its Bickell for 100,000,000 or Stalberg for cheap our situaiton might dictate we take the chance he develops.

Well considered 100 Million is well over the whole team salary cap, I agree.

If the blackhawks pay Stalberg long term aren't you going to end up with an aging player losing speed but paid for it?

for 1 year, but you see these long term nhl contracts. If somebody bad with money wants a key piece we don't have a chance.

There's a GM for the Florida Panthers you may know about.
