^except the part where he claims that Amare Stoudemire was better than Shawn Kemp, and Melo is better than Isiah.

Dew, before you make your decision, go to that thread and read my explanation for my choice of Melo over Thomas. These fools will have you believe I just started shouting "MELO IS BETTER THAN ISIAH TOMAS NANA NANA BOO BOO!!!", when that is not the case. Close, but still not the case.

And I really can't wait for Rami's (or someone, I just have to assume it'd be Rami) eventual post of "lol I showed my friend--who knows, like, a lot about basketball, watches it all the time--the thread about Melo and Isiah Thomas, and he just laughed a Lefty. See Lefty?!?!? You're wrong!!!111!!" Should be a fun time.

wow, the thread was intense...jesus christ. If you read between the lines on leftys posts and what i mean is, his detailed stats, you will see his ansewer in what he is trying to say.

IMO after reading that entire thread, lefty feels as if mello is > than Thomas so far with a final conclusion made after mellos career ends. it is very hard to pick either one since mello has alot years left in him. the unknown is still there, injuries etc...

i think that mello is on pace to be better than thomas that is for sure.

That's pretty subjective. Can you isolate the regurgitation aspect of my posts and show me that they bothered you because of it, and that were it to be taken away or replaced by only "average" (by VSN or CCS standards, your choice) regurgitation, the above regurgitation would have been significantly less bothersome?

Makes sense. Instead of acknowledging what actually happened, we should instead ignore it and attribute it to whimsical ladies such as Mother Nature and Lady Luck. For instance, when the Rangers beat the Devil Rays in the playoffs, only a fool would conclude that Cliff Lee and the Rangers pitching staff played a big role. We can't really make that statement, due to sample size. It would make more sense to say "The Rangers beat the Devil Rays because they were luckier".

Well, just simply "acknowledging what happened" may actually attribute skill to one side that shouldn't have been. Think of it this way: if you flip a coin 7 times and it comes up heads 4 times, "acknowledging what happened" will eventually lead to gracing you with the title "really good coin flipper", but did your skill at coin flipping really play a role in what actually happened? This is not to say that in playoff settings, games like basketball and baseball are reduced to events whose outcome is totally dependent on luck, but when you start taking smaller samplings of given teams (like in the playoffs), a larger and larger percentage of those teams over- or under-performing their demonstrated abilities (such as what they did in the regular season) can be explained by chance alone. Therefore in the case of an upset in the playoffs, it is erroneous to look back and say "well, they were just the better team", because that isn't necessarily the case.

If I could get Carmelo Anthony for Noah I would do that in a heart beat.

I think Joakim Noah is one of those guys whose appearance causes people to think he's a lot better than he really is.

If Troy Palamalu didn't have that long black mane running down his back and covering his jersey number, he wouldn't be as famous. Yet people see a unique appearance and they mistake it to be unique TALENT.

Carlos Valderrama is another classic example. He's the Columbian soccer player with that huge Gino Vannelli-esque hairdo, only it's blonde and similarly, people are deceived into thinking he's one of the greatest soccer players just because he LOOKS unique. You give him a buzz cut; you clean him up and give him a bath, he's just an average player.

While Noah is exceptional defensively and on the glass he ISN'T that great offensively the way Carmelo Anthony is. Carmelo Anthony can get you 30 points a game if need be .

I truly think people look more into Noah's eccentric personality and distinctive appearance and think he's a lot greater than he really is. If you shave his head, everyone will see he's only good on one side of the floor and isn't as great as people make him out to be sometimes.

If you want to get a guy like that you aren't going to get him for free.

I would trade Deng and Noah for Anthony in a New York minute. In a New York minute.

I agree on the Noah/Carmelo thing...

As far as Palamalu...he is one of the greatest safeties in NFL history. Hair has nothing to do with that.

Good grief...this is shameless...when was this...November? Give me a break...

Yes, I do hold a grudge for all of the weeks of arguing with Lefty and FT constantly questioning my intelligence and being flat out wrong on top of it. And now I shall bask in their wrongheadedness. Sue me.

OK man, I understand the premise, but how many people can drudge up these old threads to and revitalize them. I do remember the vitriol, ask around as to how many times I brought up old Ben Gordon threads when it was proven the Bulls didn't need him for their success.Believe me, I understand...lol
