What's the difference.

The biggest difference is that with LTIR the cap hit of the injured player comes off, which gives the team more room to work with. Was a big deal that Kane was put on LTIR and not just IR last year, since it opened up a lot of cap room. With LTIR the player has to be injured for a longer time and stay out for atleast the minimum time for LTIR (10 games or 24 days I believe).

Some line changes in practice today to note. Shaw with Toews/Hossa. Bickell to the 4th. Gus on the 2nd PP.

I want toews and Kane together if for no other reason than it will force toews to score

Also worth noting that Teuvo is back on the RW as part of that third line.

Q's holding a longer-than-usual practice today, too. Team is pissing him off as well with their recent performances.

It's about goddamned time if you ask me. Time for the electrode studded jockstraps. Jumpstart every time a player misses an open net or shoots it into the crest, a D-man gets caught up ice, turns the puck over to the opposition in the slot, or the netminder goes questing.

Blackhawks recall Erik Gustafsson, put David Rundblad on waivers
http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/...ll-erik-gustafsson-put-david-rundblad-waivers

How long will Rundblad be on waivers before he gets assigned to Rockford, if he's not picked up by another team? 24 hours?

Hopefully he gets claimed. He will actually cost the Blackhawks some cap space if he is in Rockford.

Was definitely a swing and a miss with this trade by Bowman. Looks like the Blackhawks are ready to commit to Gus getting some playing time and we will likely see Scud/Roz take turns as the #7 dman now. The team should be all around better for this move. Had no problem with Rundblad being the #7 because I wasn't a fan and didn't want a prospect to take that #7 spot, but this will probably be for the better now.

I agree. Runblad may be good if he's paired with a speedy, stay-at-home D-man that can cover for this complete lack of D, but the 'hawks couldn't offer that. Resigning him is still a headscratcher but even if not claimed the 100k is ****-all in a 5-year plan.

I think Scud/Rosie are the #7 and Goose is #5/6.

Still, I can't imagine why Stan thought resinging him was a good idea.

It's worth noting Dano was back up and playing fiesty again against Avs. He appears to be a less developed less intelligent more powerful Shaw/Garbutt type.
(Less intelligent than Shaw, nobody in the league is less intelligent than Garfuckass).

Also, All of the Hawks goals on Varlamov were nearly epic or epic goals, while the three darling gave up were under the pad, distance, and 5 hole softies all. Team played great, Scuderi took a massive shot.

The guy from Anaheim ruffed up Shaw a bit and for the most part they beat the shit out of us, but their penalties gave us the game with the way the Hawks power play is rolling. Panarin and TT and Anisimov all in PP rotation along with Gustofson, Seabrook Keith and the usual suspects is just overwhelming speed skating and skill firepower coming at teams in waves. We might be the best there is with a man advantage or 3 vs 3, I noticed some nice tactics being employed by Hawks in 3 v 3. They are playing less wild and maintain possession with patience. Settling into a strategy there.

Finding the right physical guys who also have enough skill to play with our freakshows remains the main issue. Other than Crawford consistency.

Gustafson is a better version of Daley. I think he solves the void left.

A head scratcher for sure almost as much as giving Bickell $4 mil a year but I won't get down on Bowman....he's done a pretty damn good job overall. It's not an exact science. Curious to see how Dallas handles the cap next season.

I think it was a combination of the size that elevated his draft status, some flashes in limited time in the playoffs, his advanced statistics last year and beautiful plus minus. He got a little lucky and when his metrics fell to earth his defense was tough for Q to swallow and impossible for Bowman to push on him any longer.

I think the most important factors though were that it didn't break the bank, TVR was a question mark after an injury lost season, he has to let Oduya go and use Poliatta and Johns to move over cap salaries.
And Rozy was hurt too.
If he knew what Gustafson, Svedberg, and TVR were in the off season maybe he spares the 100,000k cap hit, but Bowman felt like paying that insurance. I can't fault the Runblaad signing given all that. I just didn't like the Sharp trade but what can you do, I think the entire league knew we were in cap hell and colluded against us a bit.

GDT Melt? Also I think we should trade Bigfoot for John Scott back, but they probably couldn't get an all star of his quality back.

Rundblad will play the remaining of the season with the ZSC Lions (LNA), vice Swiss Champions and the favorite team for this season (also Auston Matthews plays in that team).
