Jack Johnson was an absolute shit-show last night. It was straight embarrassing how he coughed up the puck on the forecheck for Putin-lover's 800th.

For as offensively-gifted as Seth Jones should be, he sure misses a lot of breakaways. The pairing of he and Johnson was a combined -7.

The defense was garbage in front of him, but I felt like Mrazek let in a couple softies as well. Perfect storm for a beatdown: shit defense and a soft goalie.

How many open-net goals did Washington have last night, seriously? Three? Four? What a fucking embarrassment, against a barely-playoff team missing two of their best players. This team had zero interest in actually playing last night from the start.

And thanks ESPN for subjecting us to 3 dipshits who blew Ovi for literally the entire game. This year sucks enough without having to hear mumble-mouth Chelios in the booth.
correction 5 dips... you forgot the studio crew. I was listening through half the first and thought Messier was Dominic Moore, thats how bad he was. Wonder when the last time those guys actually seen a game since retirement they were going on about certain players and how they played in their heyday not the past few seasons. Painful hearing about how much skill Toews and Kane have from Mess, Kane was floating most of the night and yet Mess is gushing all over him. As you can see guys now you know where Caley gets her insights from! I am curious after that debacle has any of you ever met Chelios in person ? They always say don't meet your heroes you'll be disappointed, well I can see why.

No, but funny enough, I remember someone telling me they met Chelios at a bar in Wisconsin. Can't remember the exact details (when it was, if it was in his playing career, etc.), but supposedly he was super nice. Maybe that's true, who knows, but he was a prick for years to this city (don't get me started). Maybe if he ever acknowledges that, apologizes for it, and quits pulling the bull-shit "Chicago fans hate me because I went to Detroit" line, I'd cut him some slack. But I'm not holding my breath.

I can say that Tony O was by far the nicest Blackhawk you could ever have the pleasure of coming across. I was lucky to do so once and he absolutely exceeded my expectations.

I apologize for the stupid question here. but... was the game on tv last night? The guide said it was on, and I turned it on and was watching, but I didn't see any hockey? There were some guys with stick pushing around bags of shit, and some loud screeching from some narrators, but I'm not sure that I saw any hockey. Let's just hope they put that one far from any archives and not use it as the base for coming out of the rebuild.

It was pretty much a 30 for 30 about Alex Ovechkin instead of a hockey game.

I don't know how full the UC was, but they made it a point of saying how "respectful" the Chicago fans were last night. Ovechkin even acknowledged the crowd and came out for a center-ice skate. I gotta wonder if there were just a ton of Caps fans and/or if the UC was just empty. Not that I mind the Chicago crowd respecting Ovechkin, but I just wonder if it was a genuine act from Hawks fans or if it was because there were barely any Hawks fans there.

It was on ESPN main channel.

Hey Granada, hope your doing well, Everyone certainly has there views on Chelios, but I can say this, when he played in Montreal he lived down the street from me, and Guy Carbonneau lived around the corner as well, the 2 of them Cheli and Guy always came out to play street hockey with us kids and for that its difficult to shit on the guy, but the only reason he made it to Chicago was the fact he was sleeping with the Canadians president at the time Ronald Cory’s wife, the Canadians had no choice but to ship him out. Even Patrick Roy used to come around and put the pads on and play.

Agreed on all counts. And it was poor broadcast work showing Chelios reading the lineup instead of the 1st goal...even if it was againt.

If you're going to show Chelios over playing hockey, at least show Hextall kicking the shit out of him.

Same to you HIM. That is pretty cool, I wouldn't hate him either if I were you.

On an unrelated note, I was watching the movie Brainscan with Edward Furlong the other night. It's a pretty bad movie overall but I like it anyway, for nostalgia sake. It was filmed in Montreal and the houses and outdoor settings in the movie are just gorgeous. Must be beautiful there.

Montreal is certainly a beautiful place, but unfortunately our Provincial government has put such a dark cloud over the city with there fascists agenda, and language war between anglophones, allophones and Francophones. There is such a deep history here, great places to visit, amazing sights to see and a shit ton of construction. If you ever make the visit.

Say Hawks do win the lottery. Would you be willing to trade Bedard to drop to 3/4 to pick up Carlsson or Michov and acquire another 1st in 2024 plus another pick or two. That gives you 2, 2024 picks likely to be in lottery since team trading for Bedard will still likely be bad. Hawks also have Tampa’s first. Hawks own pick certainly will be challenging for # 1 again in 2024.

You can’t trade away a generational talent like a Bedard, acquiring him sets the rebuild in full motion., and to follow up with what you said the Hawks are so bad, they will be in the running for a top 3 in 2024 as well.
This is another reason why I would like to see Toews and Kane gone for picks and possible ready to play younger talent. The Hawks are so thin in every position they need talent.

McDavid is a generational talent but hockey is all about depth. Even a guy like McDavid is only on the ice for 20-25 min a night tops out of 60 min. The Oilers are learning that the hard way. The biggest reason why the Hawks won 3 Cups was because of guys like Saad, Buff, Bolland, Hammer, Versteeg, etc. It’s what happens in the other 40 min where games are won. You know a guy like Bedard might be in line for a 10 million dollar plus contract after his ELC. In a flat cap era, that’s a team destroyer.

Bedard is such a special talent I'd say no.

The Hawks ain't the only team tanking for the kid. If that doesn't raise your eyebrows on just how great this kid is.

But, you are 100% correct depth wins cups. The problem is, this team has zero depth in the pipeline outside of maybe three players and a bunch of question marks. Winning the lottery only to flip a kid who just might be the next big thing to accrue what? A couple high picks who combined might put up the same amount of points as one Bedard?

Now say the Hawks get the second pick, I'm all for it and I like Fantilli an awful lot.

But Bedard? Idk if I would trade away a kid who has gotten better every year and looks like a 100 point guy in the NHL.
