Didn't the Hawks go into a bit of a skid right before the playoffs started? I seem to feel that the complaining about not hustling or giving a shit was also whined about last season at this time.

Oh yeah, it's all Q's fault!

I would prefer nashville because that seems to be the team toews and hossa play the better against? Im not sure if the stats suggest the same thought but it feels like it is true. I probably made it up in my head.
Still think Weber is the key guy for the Preds and the guy that can do the most damage to crawford and hammers/seabs faces. Thats the downfall. Someone will come out of that series with Weber bruises and more missing teeth.

Honestly, I think tomorrow lives and dies with the Minny/Blues game. I expect that one to be a good one--Minny's looking to gain and St. Louis is looking for a conference shot. If Minny fails to win in any way, shape or form I can see the 'hawks mailing in the avs game. If Minny wins in regulation, I expect the 'hawks to play hard becauswe they know if they fail to get a point, they've drawn St. Louis. If St. Louis manages a point I expect them to play hard, but maybe not as hard just because there's an outside chance the Coyotes are looking to act as the spolter against the Ducks, and if the ducks lose worse than the Blues, the blues take the conference and we've got Anaheim (who we've done pretty well against).

Thanks, KOTL, I forgot that scenario. The Hawks lose in regulation, The Wild Win and the blues get a point in that game, and the Ducks lose in regulation, then'll we'll be flying out to Anaheim to start the playoffs.

My preference for the Hawks first round opponent is the preds, if not them, the ducks, and lastly the blues.

Tomorrow Never Dies.

Anaheim isn't losing, They will whomp the Coyotes and Buffalo will win tonight and knock Pittsburgh out of the postseason Saturday while giving Arizona McEichel... I'm not delusional

Prolly not, but I'm sure the Kings thought they'd beat the Oilers (and the Flames) and I'm sure the Bruins thought they'd beat the Panthers (and at the least get 1 or 2 points against the caps and panthers). If the ducks rest some of their players, and even if not, who knows?

Just like the 'hawks will be the avs, right?

Seriously, never underestimate a mathematically eliminated team--they love being spoilers. Besides, right now the season series is almost split--2 SOW for Arizona, and 2 wins for Anaheim. Anything is possible.

Honestly I think Crawfiord and Darling looking good at this point of the season is a damned good thing. Everythi9ng else should be fixible--especially since it doesn't look like the 'hawks are playing full tilt--they look like they're playing to just not get injured.

Seriously, Bickell and Shaw's goals came from driving the net and playing how they should play. The goals against are either stupid plays or choking like Mama Cass devensively. What the team needs is O and it's patently obvious that Sharp, Saad, Hossa, and to a lesser extent Toews are just coasting and playing to not get inujred. I'm not expecting much from Kris Versteeg or Antoinne Vermette except for them to look at hockey from a male point of view. But, that being said, It does mean there's a next level when Toews, Sharp, Hoss, and Saad decide to turn it up a notch--the question will be the degree they can. If the 'hawks don't, it will be a hard lesson about not having the talent to win on talent alone (or rather, talent is worth nothing more than liquid shit if it's not brought to bear), but we've seen it from this team this year multiple times--they can crank it up a notch and when they do they're scary good.

I think the playoffs go eitther 1 of 2 ways--the team gets completely obliterated in the 1st round and the media calls everything into question (Q, Toews leaderhip, Vermette's worthlessness, Stan's acquistitions, Hossa, Sharp, Timonen, & Rosival's geriatrics, Crawford's netminding, etc.), or from a Greg Luganis level of positivity, The 'hawks come out and play like we know they can and surprise the hell out of everyone, and go deep. My gut is erring with my frosted side right now.

My liege!

Well said!

Buffalo already has last place in the league locked up win or lose tomorrow. Doesn't matter what the Yotes do or don't do. That ROW is all Buffalo. If the Pens lose tonight Buffalo has a chance to do an amazing thing and possibly help knock out the Pens of the playoffs. Buffalo will be up for the game. Sens and Bruins will have to do their parts and the teams they are playing would also love to end the season by helping knock out these teams from contention.

No it's still open because The Sabers are playing right now and tomorrow, if they win both games and Arizona only acquires 1 Pt. Arizona "wins" last place. Currently Columbus is winning 2-1 vs Buffalo but don't give up hope.

I'd be with you, except I wanna see the Bruins miss the playoofs. Otherwise, I'd like to see both of 'em miss, but since one will make it...

Bruins never bother me enough to care about em one way or another (unless they are playing the Canucks in a cup final and beating them). The thought of the mighty Crosby not making the playoffs excites the **** out of me though. I don't even hate Crosby that much but man the laughs..the laughs esp after giving away their first rounder to the Oilers and continuing to trade for offense when they have been in dire need for defense for years and years!!! I hate em!!!

Buffaloooo is gunna beat the Pens tomorrow!!! Bruins going to beat Tampa and bye bye Pens..rejoice rejoice rejoice!!

I'm not going to put money on this scenerio though.

There is a possible scenerio of the Pens and Bruins ending tied in points and row. If Pens get a single point tomorrow against Buffalo and Bruins win in regulation or OT. Then it comes down to head to head? Is that right?

yes, if it comes down to head-to-head, which follows ROW, the Bruins win.

from the link below (written friday afternoon):

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...an-clinch-the-last-two-spots-in-nhl-playoffs/

The tricky part for the Bruins is that while they hold the second tiebreaker over the Penguins, they don’t hold the first tiebreaker, regulation/OT wins. So even if the Bruins win in regulation/OT, they’ll need Pittsburgh to keep it in reverse in these final two games and earn no more than one point. A loss in the shootout or overtime Saturday will eliminate them regardless of any other results.

How about the lack of give a **** for the majority of the second half of this season? Obviously nothing is ever the fault of the coaches in your eyes, so these players must really be a bunch of lazy, useless, no-talent assholes. Right? Oh, they have multiple gold medals and Stanley Cups under their belt? You don't say....

Wake me up when you have even a remedial understanding of how hockey works...

You know what's sad? When a 7 year old points out the fact that the other team is outhustling the Hawks in most of the games they play.

"Why didn't he skate hard to that puck?"

"Why did he slow down going into the corner?"

"Why did he give up and not try and take that puck from him?"

These are questions my son asks when we're watching the Hawks. The same questions I'm asking. Yeah.

Poor effort and poor work ethic = poor results. This is not a reflection on coaching? Must be the only sport in the world where that is the case.

P.S. Go **** yourself you duster.

The next insightful comment you make in regards to hockey will be your first.

That sounds fun, father and son time complaining about bad Dmen and bad overpaid wingers together.

I don't think the Hawks players are shitting themselves in the locker room wondering what they need to do to avoid the Blues. Many of the guys on the team have won 2 cups. How many cups have the Blues won again?

This is something for fans to discuss because most fans are pussies.
