In my mind, theres no question that without Dale, we don't win either Cup, but at the same time... with Dale still here, we don't win it in 2013.

Stan may have played a part in those RFA contracts, but it was Dale that signed off on them and for Stan to deal with the numbers later.

Bingo. We wouldn't have the cap room with Campbell still on the roster to get such a great supporting 2013 cast.

UFA

Havlat = 6,000,000--- Had to pay him to even get a star in this organization at the time. Period.

Campbell = 7,142,875 --- Key in winning a cup..

Khabibulin = 6,750,000 --- Same as Havlat.

Huet = 5,625,000--- Mcdonough move

EL RFA's

Buff = $3,000,000

Sharp = $3,900,000

Seabrook = $3,500,000

Everyone of these was key in winning the Cup.

I won't even bring up the RFA fiasco. Tallon was handing out money like candy, straight off their Entry Level contracts, they would be a lock for at least $3 mil.

We will see what Kruger receives (Bolland was 3.375 mil off his EL deal for virtually the same package) and Leddy gets (Barker handed $3,083,333 mil after his EL)

I don't disagree with that at all.

Without Rocky I don't know we win in 2013.

2010 was happening either way. I can't slam Dale in any way shape or form because he most certainly could have done what Stan did.

And we all know just why/how those RFA's offers went missing. It's no secret and lost more than ONE person their job because of it.

Can Stan be credited then with the drafting of Toews and Kane...since he was the Asst General Manager?

I'm not denying that all those $3+ mil EL RFA's had a key hand in winning the Cup in 2010, but the bottom line is that they were overpaid and essentially the reason that Ladd/Niemi couldn't be retained. Luckily it worked out with Stan making all the right moves.

We've never been in better shape. So far Stan, and Q, have two rings, and they are the best GM/Coach combination this organization has ever seen.

Whether Dale could have accomplished that, who knows. All I know is that he handed out a lot of money that eventually crippled the team for a few years and Stan had to mop up, and put us in a situation where we can put together a contender year in and out.

This off-season, even with the cap going down, isn't even close to the cap crunch of 2010.

HUH?

You had four Mil last year all year in cap space and almost 9 this year.

Youd have had room. They replace Campbell with Oduya, who is no Campbell, and Olesz who was hidden in the minors. THere's his salary.

I would think by that point some input.

Remember he had NO hockey experience before joining the Hawks other than his Daddy was Scotty. It was Scotty that asked Dale to hire him when Aurthur Anderson went belly up.

Either way they were going to lose people. That's the nature of the Salary cap. Watch the destruction of the Penguins next year for example.

And look at each of those NEXT contracts. How much were they over paid? Who are we or you to say they were over paid?

Buff gets 5.5 mil now

Ladd gets 5.5 mil now

Sharp is at almost 6 mil now...

They all must still be over paid.

Havlat and Khabi, ANY GM would have had to over pay them, or they wouldn't have come to Chicago.

Again, we'll see if Kruger and Leddy get $3 mil coming off EL deals like Bolland, Barker, Versteeg, Buff, and many others did under Tallon (5-6 years ago, keep in mind)

Kruger, Leddy, Beach, Lalonde, Lavin, LeBlanc, Morin, Olsen, Pirri, Sauve, and Stanton are all RFA's.

I would guess that Kruger, Leddy, Lalonde, LeBlanc, Morin, Olsen, Pirri, and Stanton are all retained. Nothing official though.

You're right, it's a different, more expensive time in the NHL.

I'll would still take Oduya (two years younger and half the cost of BC) and Olesz (who is now off the books) over Campbell, who would still be on the books for 7+ million until 2015-2016.

That's fine but you wouldn't have seen a Cup in 2010 without the fucking contract. And the Hawks were NOT the highest bidder. What part of that don't you understand?
