How about they understand the demand and move it to say McCormick place.

With that I'm not sure where to go. You weren't there. Hard to lighten up when you are standing in a line for 2 plus hours to watch a bunch of players talk.

The line to get into the opening ceremony started at 1pm on Friday. The Ceremony started at 5pm. You could not even walk though the check in of the hotel at one point because the line stretched about two BLOCKS through the Hotel.

2 million people showed up for the Parade. They knew damn well what was coming to the Hotel and should, by now, know how to PLAN FOR IT!
yeah, well moving it would make too much sense, move an event to better accommodate it? Cancellation fees being off balanced by selling double the amount of tickets because you just won the Cup you say? naaahhhh... can't be that easy.

and I don't mean you lighten up, I mean that around here lately with all the tension the member on member (hee hee huhh member...) attacks have been creeping up to an all time high and it seems like anytime anything is said even remotely in jest some douchebag swings in as the no so fast police.
The Vendor section and Auction's are really the only cool things due to the over selling.

Maiden, at the end of the silent auction, they then said, "Ok if there are two bidders still here we will open the bidding and make it a LIVE AUCTION until a final bid is in?????

Are you fucking kidding me? That's AGAINST THE FUCKING LAW!! A silent auction is a silent AUCTION! You can not RE OPEN IT AFTER THE DEADLINE OF THE AUCTION!!!!! I don't give a shit what previous problems you have!!!
That has to be one of the biggest cocksucking underhanded things I've ever heard. Please at least tell me these are charity auctions.
With Cub conventions being held there all these years and now with the Hawks conventions, I easily believe that some type of kickback is involved. Hilton blows and this convention was really poorly handled also. The sessions that I went to were good but spoiled by bandwagoners bum rushing the stage for autographs. This caused each session to run late and into the next one. If you want the autograph, pay for it at a Charity Event.
Or wait in line for a "wristband"... Those sessions aren't the place for autographs. I really can't blame them though, with the way autographs were handled. I don't understand what would be so difficult about having the "big names" sit down at a table together for a couple hours on Saturday and Sunday, and let people get all their autographs at once....

I said the same thing. I thought they were, which still wouldn't make it right, but RK didn't seem to think so.

It's one thing to hose fans for charity, but if that $ was just going back to the Hawks, there's no excuse.

I saw nothing there for "charity" aside from Campbell selling his hats...

They are absolutely NOT for charity. They are for PURE PROFIT. And anyone that thinks the economy is in the "shitter" just needs to attend the "Hawk Auctions" now. Holy crap.

Buffs stick went for 1600 during the "live" Auction. His broken stick that Pronger slashed, in a "shadow box", not autographed sold for I think 1300 in the LIVE/SILENT Auction.

The prices were as high as I've seen which is somewhat understandable until you think of the economy and then it's somewhat shocking.

Charity.... LOL!!!!

Charity.... LOL!!!!
Disgusting, why even bother with the silent auction then, hell why even bother with the auction, just put it up on the web and let it ride till it hits the price you are willing to accept.

In the merchant area they were selling the Old Timers photo, from opening night for 1000$ per photo. Those were partially for Charity. I think there were a couple of other booths there for charitable things. Nothing from the Hawks that I noticed though.

They tried that with the Winter Classic Jerseys last year. They had Minimum Bids set so high only ONE of the 10 or so jerseys sold.

Like I said they don't get it. Or they don't care. Not sure which it is.

Yeah, that's what I meant. I saw a few things in the vendor section, but nothing from the organization. All in all, I was pretty disappointed with the Blackhawks part in this whole convention, aside from the interactive section.

The really sad part is by making a few changes, one major in venue, you could make the experience SOOO MUCH BETTER. And how could the Organ-I-zation NOT want to make their fans have a better experience EVERY TIME they have the chance?

Like I said, there has to be some under the table shit happening with McDonough/Blunk and the Hilton setup for these conventions. There is no logical reason for this to be held at that SHITHOLE. Everything is a cluster **** there, because it just ISN'T BIG ENOUGH for the number of passes they sold. I think next year you will also see an end to the "two passes per room per night" that they have been doing. My wife said they tried to give her just four passes, until she said something to them about it. Sure enough, they checked our reservations, two rooms, two nights each, and reluctantly gave us the eight passes. They tried to screw us on the scratch off cards too.

Several of us requested Executive floors at the time of reservations. Everyone I know but one was automatically down graded by the hotel for absolutely NO reason what so ever. The Hotel is a complete SHIT HOLE! No doubt. Security is just fucking clueless. The Gang Bangers roaming the Hotel last night, kicked out at least five times I saw before destroying the ashtray outside, slamming gang signs, and casually walking away were definitely a bonus. I almost was hoping my Pizza would get there faster before the drive by that could have been coming.

Funny story... About 2:30 a CPD car pulls up. Sharp is in the back seat, Keith is in the front. Sharp blows out the back seat and rails into the Hotel. Blowing by everyone over there. (completely understandable IMO too). The CPD car then pulls away, With Keith still in the car, pulls a u turn at the light back north on Michigan, and flies at about 80 mph down the road.

Now that's treatment. Or a waste of Chicago tax payers Money knowing the gang bangers were just coming in and out of the front entrance of the hotel.

With that many people around, you would have thought there would be more off-duty-cop type security around. The only ones you saw, were there with the players or members of the organization. I didn't see any additional security, and the hotel employees were.....well, ghetto, and pretty much useless. I couldn't understand half of them when I tried to ask them a question about where something was. Must need to brush up on my ebonics. All in all, way too many shady characters hanging around the hotel, with no security around to speak of. We asked the front desk about ordering some pizza, and apparently all those pizza flyers that were shoved under the door, were done so against hotel policy... and without them knowing about it. Just shows you how bad their security is there. As I understand it, all of the blue shirts you saw, were UC employees too. So, what exactly did the Hilton do for this event, and did they have ANY additional staff around for this?

I heard a pretty funny rumor about last night too. Apparently Sharp and Keith came back to the hotel VERY late Saturday night(early Sunday morning I guess), obviously after a good night out on the town. Sharp was so hammered that he couldn't sign autographs, and I guess Dunc left the hotel without his ID or room key on him. He was up at the front counter trying to get a replacement, and the hotel staff working there had NO IDEA who he was, and wouldn't give him his key because he didn't have his ID on him... Not sure how true it is, but funny nonetheless. You would think the staff would at least know who the players were that were staying there.

LOL, that's pretty funny. I heard that they both came back to the hotel together at around 5:00 in the morning, again, in a CPD car. Maybe you witnessed Sharp going back to his room for something he forgot, and the CPD car turning around to pick him up at another entrance? The way I heard it, they both got out of the car together, with Sharp going upstairs and Keith going to the front desk to get his room key. This happening after 5:00 a.m.
